The position is 9-month, tenure track (75% research, 25% teaching), and will be filled at the rank of assistant or associate professor. Opportunity and responsibilities: The School of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences (SFAAS ) of Auburn University is comprised of a group of faculty with diverse research and instruction interests and extension services in fish physiology and genetics, aquaculture, aquatic ecology and toxicology, fisheries management, contaminant impact assessment and management, conservation, and animal health and reproduction. Many of these areas of research relate to aquatic chemistry, especially for chemicals used in aquaculture, such as antibiotics, herbicides, nutrients and contaminants of emerging concerns, such asPFAS and microplastics. The successful candidate will have opportunities to collaborate with theSFAAS faculty as well as other units across campus to help enhance research, education, extension, and outreach at Auburn University. The successful candidate will develop an active, externally funded research program in aquatic chemistry that is directed toward applied questions in aquaculture, fisheries, and/or other aquatic sciences. The successful candidate will also teach courses in the application of aquatic chemistry to the fields of aquaculture, fisheries, and other aquatic sciences. The School of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences Fisheries at Auburn University has a long history of training graduate and undergraduate students to be leaders in research and education around the world. The successful candidate will be expected to teach upper-level courses and/or cross-level courses for both undergraduate and graduate students as well as successfully mentor graduate students in research. Mentoring undergraduate researchers is encouraged but not required. Minimum Qualifications A successful candidate is required to have a PhD in chemistry or a closely related field, a strong publication record in aquatic chemistry research (desirably focusing on organic and emerging contaminants), and a record of attracting or potential to attract extramural funding at the time employment begins. Prior postdoctoral training, a research area that complements existingSFAAS faculty, and experience in classroom instruction and the mentoring of graduate students are also considerations. Salary and start-up funds are competitive and negotiable.
