Job Description:
Amentum is building a small, high-performance team to spearhead R&D initiatives for the Common Ground Element of a new advanced national defense system. Part of this team includes an experienced Ground Systems Engineer to help design and implement this advanced architecture and integrate efforts across multiple R&D teams. The successful candidate will be a key part of the team defining what space-based national defense looks like. You will be part of a fast moving, constantly evolving effort that requires a mission-first approach but will give you the chance to be involved in a “Manhattan Project” environment.
As the Advanced Ground Systems Engineer, you will:
• Coordinate the development of Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and related system specifications with numerous satellite and fire control vendors
• Integrate existing GOTS/COTS products to develop a satellite ground system to support on-orbit satellite command and control.
• Collaborate with engineers, system administrators and subject matter experts to identify and resolve integration challenges, ensuring the reliability and effectiveness of the Common Ground Element (CGE).
• Oversee rigorous testing and validation of the CGE components, systems and end-to-end performance.
• Integrate networking, communications, and data processing systems within the SBI CGE architecture.
• Develop and implement innovative integration strategies and processes to ensure seamless operation of the CGE.
What We're Looking For:
• We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced engineer with a proven track record of success in integrating complex ground-based systems. You should possess a strong understanding of IT data processing systems, satellite command and control, and networking as well as the ability to thrive in a highly demanding and classified environment.

Basic Requirements:
• Must have 10, or more, years of general (full-time) experience
o May be reduced with completion of advanced education
• Must have 7 years of directly related experience in ground-based systems integration, networking, communications, data processing, or related areas
• Must have 3 years of experience working in a management or leadership role
• Must have expert-level knowledge of networking configurations, satellite communications, and data processing systems is essential.
• Must be fluent in Linux and Kubernetes environments.
• Must have, or obtain within 90 days, a current Security+ or other DoD 8570 approved IAT Level II certification•
• Must have, or obtain, an active DoD Secret Security Clearance or higher
Desired Requirements:
• Have experience with software development, scripting, and automation tools (e.g. Python, Ansible, etc.)
• Have knowledge of cloud computing technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Have knowledge of data processing and analytics techniques.
• Have recent experience in a relevant military or government program is highly desirable.
This position is expected to pay **$130,000 - $150,000** annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
