    The Manager of the COMPASS Center reports to the Associate Dean for Community Programs and Initiatives and works in close collaboration with school leadership to address the Center’s objectives. This position is responsible for community relations, including the oversight and implementation of clinical activities (i.e., primary care clinics, health screening services, vaccination campaigns) along with the essential business acumen to ensure community-based clinical activities remain solvent.

     

    We are seeking a **_Community Relations Manager_** who will play a crucial role in fostering positive relationships between the institution and its surrounding communities. The Community Relations Manager will develop and implement strategies to engage with local organizations, businesses, and residents. Duties will include organizing events, managing outreach programs, and facilitating partnerships that benefit both the institution and the community.

    Specific Duties & Responsibilities

    + Represent the Johns Hopkins Institutions to internal and external stakeholders.

    + Attend community organization meetings and participates in community events, actively engaging community residents and organization members as a representative of Johns Hopkins.

    + Provide summaries of community meetings within 48 hours to their supervisor. Attends an average of 1-2 community meetings and/or events per week as a representative of Johns Hopkins Institutions.

    + Build new and strengthen existing relationships with community and faith-based organizations.

    + Partner with community-based organizations serving targeted community in alignment with Johns Hopkins University and Health System Outreach.

    + Identify key issues affecting the community and engage the Government Affairs Team and other GCE colleagues in identifying necessary resources and solutions.

    + Ensure outreach to and inclusion of community organizations in Johns Hopkins University and Health System community grant and sponsorship opportunities.

    + Collaborate and coordinate with Johns Hopkins University and Health System leadership and staff dedicated to working on community engagement and health equity issues to ensure consistency of desired outcomes.

    + Coordinate with the Office’s Communications team to promote community engagement to internal and external audiences.

    + In coordination with the Office’s Government Affairs team, participates in government affairs outreach and engagement with State and local elected officials.

    + Support the outreach and engagement efforts of the Hopkins Local initiative with community entrepreneurs.

    + Read and summarize planning documents, studies and proposals relating to community activities.

    + Submit possible stories concerning community efforts and activities to other internal publications.

    + Regularly suggest and/or write stories for publication in internal and external publications e.g. The Dome, The Hub, concerning Hopkins and community efforts.

    + Publish brochures and other materials in collaboration with GCE at the request of management.

    + Promote local community engagement activities.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    _In addition to the duties described above_

    + Travel to at least 10 - 15 clinical sites in support of the primary care mission and other clinical duties throughout Baltimore City

    + Oversee community healthcare workers who support the nurse practitioners in patient registration, scheduling, check-in as well as delegated monitoring duties

    + Support the Associate Dean and CNO in all interactions with the Johns Hopkins Health System to facilitate compliant clinical services in the community

    + Working closely with the Center and SON’s leadership and other partners, co-develop and implement strategies to strengthen the Center’s infrastructure, support the execution of best practices for community-engaged practice, education and research, and conduct rigorous evaluation of both our approach to community engagement, and the impact of community engagement on institutional and external stakeholders.

    + Develop appropriate engagement success metrics and benchmarks and provide relevant reporting to key stakeholders and the Center’s leadership on an ongoing basis.

    + Responsible for developing and executing the dissemination strategy for the Center’s stakeholder engagement activities and related projects including funded projects and studies directly linked to the Center’s community funded programs.

    + Oversee and assist with administrative functions such as Center budget management and reconciliation, development of policies and procedures of the Center and drive continuous improvement in consistent use of clinically based standard operating procedures.

    + Supervise all COMPASS staff as well as fellows/students.

    + May be required to back fill to support community-based efforts in the event of staff call outs.

    + May include supporting the NP in the clinical setting and clinic hours vary.

    + Available for community events during non-standard hours.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Business in Health Administration, Project Management or related field.

    + Seven years of related experience.

    + Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Master’s Degree.

    + Minimum three years related experience in community engagement.

    + Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management.

    + Demonstrated experience in event planning and management.

    + Demonstrated experience in managing community programs and projects.

    + Demonstrated experience working with the participant population.

    + A registered nurse with at least 3 years of experience

    + Masters’ degree with a focus on community health.

    + Knowledge and skills to use an electronic medical record (i.e., EPIC) and ability to project manage with IT/EPIC support a community-based EPIC encounter

    + Grant writing experience.

    + Background in community-based nursing, primary care, and clinical program development.

    + Knowledge of state and federal regulations, payer mix, and compliance with coding and billing.

    + Comfortable with the use of social media for health promotion, combating misinformation, and generating client demand for prevention and primary care services.

    **Starting Salary Range** : $73m300 - $128,300 Annually ($100,800 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
