             Overview Shimmick is seeking a highly talented **Electrical Field Engineer** to be based in **Chattanooga, TN** and will support electrical work scopes on theChickamauga Dam Project; a new 110-foot by 600-foot lock located downstream of Chickamauga Dam. Axia Electric, LLC Since the early 1990s, Shimmick has been self-performing electrical scopes for infrastructure projects. In 2025 the Electrical Division rebranded to Axia Electric, a subsidiary to Shimmick Construction. Axia offers electrical, instrumentation, and process controls expertise for water and wastewater treatment; dams and locks; mass transit and rail; alternative energy; power generation and transmission; and commercial building projects. Our ability to self-perform this specialty offers additional value and enables us to better control cost and schedule for projects with major electrical and process mechanical scopes. Our clients include municipalities, water districts, sanitation districts, transit agencies, private developers, DOTs, and USACE. Axia Electric, headquartered in Riverside, California, focuses on large public owners in several states, across water resources, water treatment, transportation and transit markets. Over the past decade, the division has grown tremendously, securing major projects, including the $350 million North City Pure Water Facility (https://www.shimmick.com/portfolio/north-city-pure-water-facility/) in San Diego and the $235 million EVMWD Regional Water Reclamation Facility Expansion Projectin Lake Elsinore, CA. Responsibilities The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following: + Under direct supervision, performs routine duties requiring knowledge of basic engineering principles. + Limited exercise of judgment is required on details of work. + Performs specific and limited portions of broader assignments. + Spends large percentage of time performing estimating take-offs and performing walk-downs for quantity tracking purposes, reporting of installed quantities, performing field inspections to verify adherence to design. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: + Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Preferred Qualifications: + Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. + AutoCAD experience. + Working knowledge of construction electrical systems. + Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Suite. + Strong problem-solving skills and consistent attention to detail. + Ability to manage changing deadlines and work well under pressure for multiple team leaders. + Work independently and effectively to prioritize multiple tasks. + Highly organized with excellent time management skills. + Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills. The salary range for this position is between **$80,000 - $90,000** per year depending on experience and/or education.
