    Electrical Estimator (Centennial, CO) Pay: $90k-$120k Plus Project Bonus Potential Expiration Date of Job Posting: Continuous POSITION SUMMARY: The Electrical Estimator is responsible for developing accurate, competitive, and comprehensive cost estimates for commercial, industrial, and EV infrastructure electrical projects. This position requires deep understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), commercial permitting processes, and hands-on experience with project take-offs, pricing, and construction practices. The Senior Estimator will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to ensure estimates are technically sound, cost-effective, and compliant with jurisdictional requirements. This role plays a key part in supporting profitable growth by preparing bids that reflect both client expectations and Winn-Marion’s commitment to quality, safety, and integrity. JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    + ​ High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred. Licensed Journeyman or Master Electrician preferred.

    + 5+ years of electrical estimating experience in commercial, industrial, or EV charging environments.

    + Strong understanding of electrical construction drawings, specifications, and one-line diagrams.

    + Proficiency with bidding software (e.g., Intellibid, Bluebeam, or similar) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

    + Comprehensive knowledge of NEC and local electrical codes.

    + Proven experience with electrical permitting, submittals, and coordination with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).

    + Ability to analyze labor, material, subcontractor, and equipment costs for both design-bid and design-build projects.

    + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with customers, engineers, utility reps, and internal teams.

    + Valid driver’s license and acceptable MVR.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Lead the preparation of comprehensive, itemized electrical cost estimates for commercial and industrial projects, determining material needs, labor hours, subcontractor pricing, and overhead allocations.

    + Independently review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and scopes of work to ensure estimates fully align with project requirements.

    + Establish and incorporate all permit costs, inspection requirements, and jurisdictional fees into final project proposals.

    + Direct communication with permitting departments and local jurisdictions to define requirements, timelines, and documentation for project approval.

    + Oversee the development and final approval of one-line diagrams and technical documents in collaboration with engineering teams to meet permit and design standards.

    + Make key decisions in partnership with project managers, engineers, and field supervisors to ensure constructability, budget alignment, and project feasibility.

    + Maintain expert-level knowledge of commercial permitting processes and determine appropriate compliance strategies with local authorities.

    + Lead bid reviews, value-engineering sessions, and client proposal presentations, representing final pricing and project strategy decisions.

    + Identify design and scope gaps early in the process and determine corrective actions or bid clarifications to mitigate risk.

    + Direct the breakdown of estimates into project phases, deliverable lists, and cost codes to support accurate project tracking and field execution.

    + Build, evaluate, and manage vendor and subcontractor partnerships to ensure competitive pricing, quality performance, and long-term reliability.

    + Represent the company at pre-bid meetings, site walks, and coordination meetings, making authoritative decisions on project strategy and pricing.

    + Oversee maintenance of detailed estimating files, bid logs, and project documentation to ensure accuracy, traceability, and compliance with company standards.

    OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

    + Ensure all estimating and proposal work complies with company safety standards and applicable regulations.

    + Support continuous improvement efforts by updating cost databases and labor productivity factors.

    + Participate in internal training and mentoring for junior estimators or apprentices interested in learning estimation.

    + Maintain professionalism and positive communication with clients, vendors, and colleagues.

    + Complies with all safety work procedures.

    + Performs field work as needed.

    + Efficiently follow orders from manager. Able to meet or deliver before the required deadlines.

    + Properly utilize and care for and secure all company tools, supplies, and vehicles.

    + Checks and responds to all company communications on all scheduled workdays, including voice mail, emails, and text messages. Makes sure that old voice mails are cleared regularly so that the mailbox does not get full.

    + Performs other duties as assigned.

    WORK CONDITIONS:

    + Primarily office-based with periodic field or site visits.

    + Ability to sit at a computer workstation for extended periods.

    + Occasionally lift up to 40–50 pounds (e.g., plans, samples, equipment).

    + Occasional travel to project sites or client meetings within Colorado or nearby states.

    + 40-hour work week, with additional hours as required during bid deadlines.
