Job Description
One of our large education clients is looking for a Salesforce Data Architect to join their team. This is a fully remote (working EST), 12-month contract to hire opportunity.
Key Responsibilities:
Architectural Leadership & Strategy
• Architect and implement an enterprise-grade data migration framework to support Penn State University’s varied and complex systems and processes.
• Help develop robust ER data models that ensure data integrity, accuracy, and compliance.
• Help review / complete data migration mapping spreadsheets / criteria with functional teams.
• Establish architectural standards, governance practices, and a “golden source” data strategy aligned with institutional goals and higher ed data needs.
Informatica ETL & Integration
• Design, develop, and optimize ETL workflows transforming, cleansing, and unifying data across disparate systems.
• Ensure rigorous data validation, logging, error handling, and operational monitoring to maintain data quality throughout migration processes.
• Knowledge of the Informatica platform including its capabilities and limits preferred.
Project Leadership & Collaboration
• Lead cross-functional teams (data engineers, admins, business stakeholders), managing timelines, risks, and deliverables with clarity.
• Translate complex business requirements into scalable, reliable technical solutions.
• Manage stakeholder communication: set expectations, report progress, escalate risks, and ensure transparent decision-making.
Operational Oversight & Documentation
• Oversee migration execution: scheduling, job monitoring, troubleshooting failures, root cause analysis, and applying corrective actions
• Maintain detailed technical documentation—ETL mappings, data dictionaries, architecture diagrams, runbooks, and support manuals.
• Coordinate with IT teams to ensure alignment with university-wide data security, compliance, and disaster recovery standards.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
• Evaluate existing data systems and propose enhancements for scalability, performance, and governance.
• Stay current with emerging data technologies, Informatica and Salesforce best practices, and higher education industry trends.
