    Customer Service Rep Associate-Merchandising

    Job Summary

    Ensure that customers receive the best service possible at any of the FRIENDS Gift Shops by making sure that store inventory levels and displays are well-stocked and organized. This may include implementing plan program updates, stock displays or shelves, complete cycle counts, and inventory counts across locations, assisting in store remodels, and pricing or tagging products with security materials among other responsibilities. You will be servicing multiple locations and customers on a recurring basis across all locations. This position also works one weekend monthly providing oversight of students and volunteers. This position will report directly to the Merchandise Manager, but you will work independently onsite.

    Responsibilities*

    + Assists customers with inquiries, purchases, or other customer facing information

    + Participates in weekend and evening coverage rotation for various staffing needs.

    + Stocks product and maintain displays according to merchandising standards

    + Provides inventory management skillset to include monitoring and transferring products between all shops.

    + Maintains confidentiality of university and shop records.

    + Works with Merchandise Manager to complete store To Do List and Team Weekly tasks; this will require guiding the work of temporary staff and volunteers where necessary.

    + Answers questions and resolves problems of patrons or staff with a high degree of urgency.

    + Answer telephones, processes telephone orders and makes deliveries of merchandise to hospital rooms as required.

    + Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

    Skills You Have

    + Strong listening and communications skills, face-to-face and virtually

    + You are detail-oriented and organized

    + Willingness to learn or existing familiarity with job-specific technology

    + You work well in a fast-paced environment

    + Ability to lead and train volunteers and/or students on core stocking and service requirements (HBA, snacks, tech needs)

    + Demonstrates a record of excellent attendance

    Required Qualifications*

    + High school diploma or GED

    + 0-2 years of experience

    + Valid Driver's License, reliable transportation, and 18 years or older

    + Ability to safely lift 35 pounds and to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, and twist while handling product.

    + Ability to stand for long periods of time.

    Desired Qualifications*

    + Previous retail experience

    + Bachelor's degree

    + Understanding of inventory management systems and processes

    + Process-driven and able to follow procedures in an organized and efficient way

    Work Schedule

    + Must possess open availability to include evenings and weekends as required

    + Must be able to work in any of the Friends Gift Shops locations during any shift when the shop is open. This must include evenings and weekends as assigned.

    Background Screening

     

    Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
