Your Opportunity Stantec is currently seeking a full time Buildings Construction Administrator based out of our Berkley, MI office. You are expected to have a broad set of experience and knowledge, promote design excellence, and possess technical skills to support project work as a field representative for the architect/engineer during the construction phase of a project. As a Construction Administrator, you will work as part of an integrated and multidiscipline team that is delivering complex projects in Michigan and the surrounding region. You are responsible for coordinating and administering the contract award and subsequent contract administration activities relating to projects of various complexity and scale on a variety of project typologies including Higher Education, K-12, Multi-Family Housing, and Commercial projects. This opportunity will require on-site field representation for approximately 75% of your time with the remaining of your time based on a hybrid work model of in-office and work from home flexibility. Your Key Responsibilities - Perform on site observations of the progress and quality of the work to determine if it is being performed in a manner conforming to the contract documents. - Observe and report deviations from the contract documents, codes, and standards. Follow through with all responsible parties until issues are resolved. - Observe and assist in equipment startups and commissioning. - Assist Design Team with responses to Requests for Information and communicate with Design Team for clarifications. - Negotiate acceptable resolutions to contract changes and claims, and process for management approval. - Review progress payment certificates. - Develop written field reports and complete project punch lists. - Process project closeouts. - Attend and participate in site meetings with construction management team, trades, and owner representatives. - Maintain a logbook of site activities including weather conditions, nature and location of work being performed, instructions given to the contractor, and record of any occurrence that may result in a contractor claim. - Observe startup of major systems and confirm in writing the proper operation of said systems based on reports by commissioning agents and manufacturer representatives. - Provide drawing constructability reviews. - Regional travel required. Your Capabilities and Credentials - Construction field representative experience, preferably for ground up construction and preferably in Michigan. - Understanding of all phases of construction including permitting, mobilization, foundation, superstructure, interiors, systems, and site. - Ability to check own work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule. - Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting. - Ability to engage in creative and critical thought. - Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with typical construction management software a plus. Education and Experience - Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management with five years of related experience or ten years of related experience without a degree is required. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
