    Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, MI)

    Apply Now

We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world -- together. At Ford, we’re all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves?

    In this position...

At Ford Motor Company, we are at the forefront of the automotive revolution. From the iconic F-150 Lightning to the Mustang Mach-E, we are designing the vehicles that will define the future of mobility. The complexity of these modern marvels relies on a flawless Electrical Distribution System (EDS), and that's where you come in.

This isn't just another component design role. We are looking for a passionate and meticulous engineer to take on design and release responsibility for CAN-based power distribution boxes (PDBs) and high current fuse boxes (HCFBs). You will be critical in developing functional safety compatible PDBs and ensuring seamless integration into our next-generation vehicles.

    What you'll do...

As a PDB Design and Release Engineer, you will be empowered to own and influence the entire component lifecycle. You will:

Manage Component Integration: Collaborate with program teams to effectively package power distribution components and battery isolation boxes (BIBs) within the vehicle, proactively resolving any interference or assembly challenges.

Develop Functional Safety Solutions: Drive the development of PDBs and BIBs that meet rigorous functional safety standards.

Define Electrical Configurations: Create detailed design transmittals, utilizing VSEM, to define and develop precise electrical pin-out configurations for PDBs.

Lead Supplier Management: Program manage full-service suppliers through the complete lifecycle, including part creation, packaging, vehicle attachments, build support planning, and comprehensive issue resolution.

Interface with Software Engineering: Collaborate closely with software engineering teams to ensure alignment on releases and requirements for PDB functionality.

Operate in a Global Environment: Work effectively within a global team setting, coordinating efforts across different regions and stakeholders.

    You'll have...

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering concentration.

5+ years of professional experience with automotive or aerospace industry power distribution boxes (PDBs).

    Even better, you may have...

Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering concentration.

Experience preferred with power electronics and communication protocols such as LIN, CAN, and ASIC.

3+ years of experience with CAN-based power distribution boxes (PDBs) or similar electronic modules.

Proven experience with failure mode analysis and root cause determination.

Familiarity with plastic injection molding, automated assembly processes, metal forming, and fundamental mechanical engineering principles.

Excellent English communication skills (oral, reading, writing, and listening).

Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively with diverse teams.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!

As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home? Will your career be a deep dive into what you love, or a series of new teams and new skills? Will you be a leader, a changemaker, a technical expert, a culture builder…or all of the above? No matter what you choose, we offer a work life that works for you, including:

    • Immediate medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage

    • Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized back-up child care and more

    • Family building benefits including adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, fertility treatments, and more

    • Vehicle discount program for employees and family members and management leases

    • Tuition assistance

    • Established and active employee resource groups

    • Paid time off for individual and team community service

    • A generous schedule of paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day

    • Paid time off and the option to purchase additional vacation time.
