About the DTO Team: Ford Design – Technical Operations (DTO) turns design vision into reality with an obsession to detail and the art of the possible. As an integral part of Ford Global Design, we deliver theme feasibility, Class A surface geometry, and production-launch appearance quality. We are looking for creative individuals to join us and help further the vision and mission of the Ford Design team.
This position requires demonstrable expertise in integrating commercial AI tools, specifically to elevate the development and quality of NURBS/Bezier "Class A surfaces" within design studio workflows. As the AI Transformation Lead, you'll be responsible for strategically identifying, evaluating, and piloting cutting-edge AI solutions, then meticulously optimizing workflows to drive unparalleled design innovation.
What you’ll do…
+ Lead and manage end-to-end AI implementation programs, focusing on integrating commercial or established AI tools into design studio workflows to optimize Nurbs/Bezier Class A surface development and quality.
+ Research, evaluate, and recommend existing Class A surface AI tools (e.g., generative design software with AI capabilities, AI-powered simulation tools, AI-driven quality inspection systems) that can address specific business challenges and opportunities within the group.
+ Define the technical roadmap for AI tool integration, focusing on how known "Class A surface AI tools" can be strategically incorporated into the company's design, engineering, and manufacturing technology stack.
+ Lead technical pilots and proof-of-concept projects for new AI tools in Class-A surfacing, evaluating their technical performance, user experience, and business value before full-scale deployment.
You’ll have…
+ Bachelor's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
+ 5+ years of experience in solution architecture, technical consulting, or systems integration, with a strong focus on enterprise software solutions.
+ 3+ years specifically working with AI/ML platforms or advanced engineering software
+ Deep understanding of Bezier/Nurbs based AI tools and training methods, enterprise IT architectures, cloud platforms, APIs, and data integration patterns. Familiarity with CAD/CAE/CAM software, PLM systems, and "Class A surface" tools. Knowledge of machine learning concepts and how they are applied in commercial AI software.
+ Strong understanding of product design, engineering, and manufacturing processes, particularly the requirements and challenges associated with high-quality surface development.
+ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Strong communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience with agile methodologies.

+ Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
+ 7+ years of experience in solution architecture, technical consulting, or systems integration, with a strong focus on enterprise software solutions.
+ 5+ years specifically working with AI/ML platforms or advanced engineering software
+ Prior experience working directly within or in close partnership with an automotive design studio, demonstrating a deep understanding of the creative process from sketch to clay to digital model.
