Clinical Instructors, who may be part—or full-time clinician educators, largely influence nursing students' clinical education. Reporting to the Manager of Clinical Education, the Clinical Placement Specialist is responsible for organizing, coordinating, and planning the operational facets of clinical instructor staffing. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: + Develop new partnerships with clinical learning sites for use in the nursing programs. + Plans and attends clinical coordination forums, pre-clinical summit events, career fairs, student forums, planning meeting and conferences as appropriate to prepare and assess clinical program effectiveness. + Conduct or assist with the orientation of nursing students and faculty to clinical site use. + Facilitate quarterly collaboration with facilities and nursing faculty to align clinical utilization to ensure placement needs are met. + Conduct site visits to clinical agencies to enhance partnerships and assess facilities. + Facilitate the evaluation process of clinical instructors, sites, and preceptors. + Coordinate student placements that meet their program requirements and maintain a list of clinical instructors, sites, and preceptors by clinical specialty to remain abreast with our partners. + Maintains and modifies departmental database, verifying credentials, compliance historical information, etc. + Collaborate with clinical partners for the review and clearance of rotation requests. + Provide oversight for all clinical affiliation agreements within the School of Nursing to ensure execution of the agreement, renewals, fee addendums and terms of contracts and short form agreements. + Collaborates with internal and external stakeholder to execute affiliation agreements. + Other duties as assigned. ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS/KEY DUTIES: + Gather clinical instructors teaching preferences in advance of semester start. + Collaborate with Pre-licensure Clinical Placement Specialist for course scheduling and needed clinical instructors each semester. + Assign clinical instructors to open clinical rotations. + Coordinate and manage clinical education logistics by inputting clinical instructor assignments, monitoring and ensuring compliance with credentialing requirements, and maintaining up-to-date clinical instructor schedules across multiple education management platforms, including CORE, Teaching Assignment Management System (TAMS), Acemapp, and Smartsheet. + Reassign clinical/simulation as needed based on changes in Clinical Instructor status and teaching needs of the SON. + Facilitate the evaluation process of clinical instructors, sites, and preceptors. + Credential Clinical Instructor for assigned clinical rotation health system. + Assure unit orientation attendance and availability. + Send touches to clinical instructor including birthday and work anniversary notes. + Attends and engages with clinical partners during onboarding and assignment of clinical instructor + Promotes positive working relationships with clinical instructors and clinical placement partners. + Maintains professional and timely communication through e-mail and phone with colleagues and clinical instructors. + The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and has strong organizational and communication skills to support a smooth onboarding experience for instructors across various clinical sites. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: + Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in the institution of higher learning or healthcare field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: + Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with many competing priorities and deadlines. + Ability to learn and utilize clinical education programs. + Excellent problem solving, negotiation, and organizational skills. + Exceptional computer based organizational skills including maintaining accurate and detailed reports and records. + Excellent public relations and communication skills using proper etiquette both electronically and interpersonally. + Passion for learning and acquiring new skills. NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion.
