    As a Nuclear Medicine Lead Technologist, you will be responsible for preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals to patients across all age groups and performing comprehensive nuclear medicine studies utilizing imaging and ancillary equipment. Additionally, you will conduct camera and radiopharmacy quality control and assume primary technical leadership responsibilities within the department. This role offers an excellent way to enhance your current skillsets, gain extensive hands-on experience and make a difference in the lives of patients every day.

     

    A caregiver in this role works days + on-call shifts from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. or 6:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. with weekend requirements.

    A caregiver who excels in this role will:

    + Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients of all ages, ensuring correct patient, study and radiopharmaceutical verification by checking patient ID, requisitions and labels prior to administration.

    + Administer radiopharmaceuticals according to department protocol using aseptic technique and in compliance with state/federal regulations and accreditation agencies.

    + Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding, cooperation and safety and ensure patient safety during and after exams.

    + Perform VNA punctures as necessary and maintain competencies.

    + Perform all nuclear medicine studies using imaging and ancillary equipment, including nuclear imaging/counting procedures according to department protocols, computer acquisition and analysis and acquisition, archiving, transmission and printing of images via PACS.

    + Report any malfunctions to the help desk or PACS Administrator.

    + Conduct camera and radiopharmacy quality control, including daily, weekly, quarterly and annual procedures on dose calibrators, scintillation well counters, thyroid probes and scintillation cameras.

    + Perform elutions of 99mTc generators, preparation of radiopharmaceuticals and kits and associated quality control according to departmental procedures, manufacturer specifications, and regulatory requirements.

    + Label and record all documentation according to department procedures.

    + Maintain proper records for all diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and identify, document and report sub-optimum results to supervisors.

    + Assume lead technical responsibilities and, under the direction of the Clinical Manager, supervise and coordinate work activities of assigned personnel, schedule work assignments and prepare the master schedule.

    + May perform payroll timesheets for employees.

    + Train, counsel, discipline and evaluate employee performance.

    + Assist with interviewing applicants and recommend selections.

    + Maintain procedure manuals, communicate changes to staff and assist with policies and procedures required by local, state, or federal law.

    + Support compliance with credentialing or regulatory bodies including ACR, MQSA, Medicare, Medicaid, FDA and others.

    + Assist with instrument calibration and documentation to ensure compliance with quality assurance requirements.

    + Perform hot lab responsibilities, including elutions of generators, preparation of radiopharmaceuticals and kits, and quality control using aseptic technique in compliance with state/federal regulations and accreditation standards.

    + Administer radiopharmaceuticals according to department protocols using aseptic technique and ensure all pharmaceuticals are properly recorded.

    + May assist with scheduling patients as needed to support workflow and patient care coordination.

    Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Bachelor's Degree in Nuclear Medicine

    + **OR** Graduate of a two-year accredited school in an Allied Health program

    + **OR** Certification from CAHEA approved Nuclear Medicine Technologist training program

    + Two years of recent modality experience

    + Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(N) (ARRT), in good standing

    + **OR** Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist through the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board: C.N.M.T.

    + Current state licensure

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

    + Knowledgeable in billing in RIS

    + Ability to direct, evaluate and supervise others

    Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Three or more years of recent modality experience

    Physical Requirements:

    + Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.

    + Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

    Personal Protective Equipment:

    + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
