    Role Summary

    Accurate, reliable data is essential to supporting The Cigna Group’s strategic and operational needs. As one of the organization’s most valuable assets, data must be managed with care and precision. The Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) team plays a key role in enabling this by providing guidance, tools, and support for effective data management and quality oversight. Through the implementation of data governance best practices, EDG helps reduce risk and ensures data is available, trustworthy, and fit for purpose across Lines of Business (LoBs). The Clinical Data Steward (Business Analytics Senior Advisor) is a vital member of the EDG team, collaborating with business, technical, and regulatory stakeholders to implement and document industry and organizational data standards. This role leads complex, cross-functional initiatives to ensure clinical data is accurate, consistent, and usable—supporting activities such as risk assessment, metadata management, data quality monitoring, issue resolution, and knowledge sharing.

    Responsibilities:

    Clinical Data Governance & Stewardship

    + Serve as the dedicated Data Steward for healthcare payer clinical data operations and initiatives.

    + Collaborate with enterprise and business data stewards to align standards and share best practices.

    + Represent the Clinical data domain in enterprise workgroups and communities of practice.

    Data Standards & Quality

    + Lead efforts to define, document, and manage data assets including Critical Data Elements (CDEs), business terms, definitions, reference data, and business rules.

    + Ensure compliance with data governance frameworks, tools, and best practices.

    + Monitor and analyze data quality metrics, identify trends, and drive remediation and preventive actions.

    Stakeholder Engagement & Process Improvement

    + Partner with business owners to define and communicate metrics that assess data health and quality.

    + Recommend process improvements and efficiencies, including business cases and implementation strategies.

    + Provide consultative support to delivery and issue resolution teams to ensure accurate and efficient data flow.

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree or higher.

    + Minimum 5+ of experience in:

    + Data Governance, Data Management, and Data Quality practices.

    + Healthcare payer data products and processes.

    + Clinical data standards and operations, including:

    + Clinical terminology, concepts, and data lifecycle related to Health Services, Care Management, and Wellness programs.

    + Health Profiles/History (e.g., health assessments, EMRs).

    + Health Measurement (e.g., population health, evidence-based medicine, HEDIS, risk scores).

    + Clinical operational systems (e.g., TruCare, Evicore, MDLive) and related reporting platforms.

    + Healthcare interoperability and EMR standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR, OHDSI/OMOP, Epic, Arcadia).

     

    If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

     

    For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 111,800 - 186,400 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

     

    This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
