    POSITION DETAILS

    The CUNY School of Medicine (CUNY SoM) located in the heart of Harlem, New York, is the only medical school in the City University of New York system and the only public medical school in Manhattan. Building upon 50 years of success as the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, the institution transitioned to the CUNY School of Medicine (SoM) in 2016. The CUNY SoM offers an accelerated BS/MD degree (7-year program) and a Physician Assistant Master’s Degree (27 months program). CUNY SoM places a special emphasis on the recruitment of those who are underrepresented in the field of medicine and on training high quality, culturally competent health professionals and scientists equipped to address the healthcare needs of New York’s medically under-served communities.     CUNY SoM is seeking a dynamic Human Resources professional dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service and fostering positive work experiences for our employees. Reporting to the Executive Director of Human Resources, the HR Manager will play a crucial role in providing guidance and support in the areas of performance evaluations, professional development, training, and various compliance initiatives. In addition to the CUNY overview, the Professional Development & Compliance Manager will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

     

    + CUNY SoM is seeking a dynamic Human Resources professional dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service and fostering positive work experiences for our employees. Reporting to the Executive Director of Human Resources, the HR Manager will play a crucial role in providing guidance and support in the areas of performance evaluations, professional development, training, and various compliance initiatives. In addition to the CUNY overview, the Professional Development & Compliance Manager will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

    + Collaborate with University Human Resources, DCAS, and other training & development partners to identify professional development and training opportunities for full-time and part-time faculty and staff.Conduct research and stay abreast of the latest developments in training and partner with various stakeholders to develop and facilitate career paths across various levels of the workforce.

    + Design, develop, and deliver engaging learning programs across the employee lifecycle, covering core professional skills (e.g., soft skills, technical skills, emotional intelligence, active listening, influencing, project management, AI enablement, presentation skills, etc.). Regularly audit and review onboarding and core learning resources (presentation decks, documents, intranet pages) to support program improvements.

    + Conduct annual employee performance evaluation training and assist supervisors with identifying skill gaps and recommend appropriate training programs.Work closely with management staff to develop performance improvement plans and provide advice and recommendations to employees and managerial groups on personnel matters related to performance management and professional development.

    + Manage the performance evaluation process by collecting, monitoring, and reporting on the evaluation tools, processes, and completion of annual appraisals. Build and maintain a repository of performance evaluations and create tracking and dashboard data to monitor and report on performance metrics.

    + Regularly and frequently monitors compliance policies, procedures, protocols, programs, preventative measures, and internal controls to safeguard risks.Produces regular and on-demand reports of performance evaluation and compliance training and identifies trends and areas for improvement in completion rates and time to completion.

    + Design and deliver a standardized onboarding program that educates new hires on SoM goals, culture, business operations, and what to expect in their first 90 days and beyond.Consult with management teams to design training pathways that reflect workforce aspirations, operational needs, and best practices in adult learning to ensure seamless transition for new hires, retirees, and other separations.

    + Manage the registration and completion of compliance coursework and required certifications and licensure for faculty and staff. Implements strategies and supports efforts to improve compliance with completion of CUNY, NYS, or other required training curriculum.

    + Utilizes a Learning Management System (LMS) and other tools to track participation in trainings, measure learning outcomes, and report on impact.Measure and track new hire and active employee training by maintaining onboarding plans, document core learning experiences, and manage all compliance training initiatives.

    + Gather and analyze insights from feedback surveys, focus groups, and other sources to recommend process, content, and delivery revision.Identify and seize opportunities to automate, optimize, and iterate upon onboarding processes and communications, including welcome messages, onboarding prep, cohort communications, and training focused human resources communications.

    + Manage and oversee internal audits, external audit pre-inspections, and audits responding to non-compliance reports and ensure audit findings are reasonable, justified, appropriate, and reported as required.Keep abreast of statutory and regulatory compliance requirement changes; disseminate information to relevant parties as needed.

    + Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or designee.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    + Eight (8) year years of human resources, professional development, and/or compliance experience in higher education preferred.

    + Knowledge of PeopleSoft (CUNYFirst), Microsoft Office suite and current federal, state and local employment laws and regulation.

    + Past success in a fast-paced, continually evolving environment using proven time management skills, prioritization skills and working with a strong sense of urgency.

    + Hands-on experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning tools.

    + Proficient in conducting needs assessments, analyzing metrics, and using data to inform strategic enhancements.

    + Capable of identifying challenges and implementing effective corrective actions to optimize learning outcomes.

    + Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to engage a diverse range of stakeholders.

    CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

    Manages a portfolio of Human Resources programs and operations at the College level.

     

    + Assumes responsibility for delivery of one or more human resources programs, which may include recruitment, performance management, labor relations, pay administration, recordkeeping, and/or human resources technology.

    + Manages staff responsible for carrying out operations in the Human Resources office.

    + Directly supports College department chairs and managers in staff planning, recruiting, hiring, and resolving sensitive personnel issues regarding their employees.

    + Provides guidance on the impact of laws and regulations, CUNY policies, and collective bargaining agreements.

    + Provides outreach to employees and provides communications such as meetings, newsletters, and web sites.

    + Compiles accurate and well-organized reports.

    + Assists management with developing policies, procedures, and programs to support Human Resources' objectives.

    + Performs related duties as assigned.

    Salary Range: $74,249 - $129,041

     

    Salary commensurate with education and experience.
