    The Opportunity

     

    As a **Project Manager – Ports and Maritime, Southeast U.S.** , you will have the opportunity to operate as an energetic, client-focused leader with a broad range of ports and maritime experience to engage with clients, understand their needs, and lead high-performing solution teams to successfully pursue business opportunities for our company. The position is best suited for someone with high leadership capabilities and the ability to understand client needs and develop business growth prospects. The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a growth strategy for the Southeast U.S. region. _This position will focus primarily on growing our footprint by engaging with public agency ports and maritime entities, and coordinating with solution teams to ensure the delivery of quality consulting and engineering services._ Desired experience includes proven client relationship management and knowledge of all facets related to the design and permitting of port and maritime infrastructure, including piers, terminals and marinas.

    The Team

    **Black & Veatch’s Governments & Communities** sector focuses on specific infrastructure needs of municipalities, state and local governments, federal agencies, and public authorities. This includes delivering specialized physical and digital infrastructure solutions that develop and maintain critical infrastructure for port public agencies.     Key Responsibilities

    + Workwith senior leadership to develop ports and maritime business strategy for Southeast U.S. region.

    + Develop a client base for providing high-level port and maritime consulting and engineering services, including identifying additional business opportunities.

    + Lead business development activities with sales and solution teams, manage client relationships, assist sales and solution teams with proposal development, technical and conference presentations.

    + Work collaboratively with solution and engineering teams to grow port and maritime-focused solutions, including consulting, planning, and engineering solutions.

    + Work collaboratively with solution and engineering teams to manage the delivery of projects that meet or exceed client expectations, as well as internal project objectives.

    + Maintain relationships with key clients, decision makers, teaming partners, regulators, stakeholders and Agency staff, and converts these relationships into new opportunities that grow and foster a sustainable business.

    + Support oversight on regional projects to make sure client objectives are achieved, as well as company business metrics related to budget and schedule.

    + Set hiring priorities, identifying candidates, and development of local staff to facilitate the achievement of strategy objectives, including client-focused and solution- and technical-focused candidates.

    + Mentor staff on longer-term career growth.

    + Track and manage the growth of the business funnel for regional ports and maritime opportunities.

    Management Responsibilities

    Acts as a project manager. Among responsibilities is management of a project team. The individual comprising this team may vary by project.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Highly knowledgeable of the ports and maritime industry, including strong port client relationships in the Southeast U.S. region.

    + Highly proficient with marine, port and coastal engineering principles, practices, process, design/build and the application to work-related issues

    + 10+ years of Client development and project execution experience with proven portfolio of serving public agency clients.

    + Demonstrated experience in a client-facing/business development role

    + Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or related engineering discipline

    + Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card which requires a TSA background check.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
