WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
The Global Sr. Creative Director, Basketball leads a multidisciplinary team across Art & Design Direction, Social & Digital, Voice, Narrative & Writing, and Seasonal Retail Experiences. This role leads virtual studios of creative disciplines, focused on full end-to-end deliverables from concept to channel execution. Partnering upstream with the product concept sport leads and helping bring a cohesive story through the internal marketing process
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
This Global Senior Creative Director is an experienced leader, and this role will encourage and lead innovative thinking, collaboration, and teamwork across the creative organization and marketing teams. They are deep experts in Basketball performance and culture. They will be simultaneously ensuring that the team deliver integrated creative solutions against the seasonal strategy. This person will deliver world-class creative storytelling by directing and executing both high-impact, multi-million-dollar campaigns against specific Sport briefs as well as delivering against key sport moments and ideas that will blow up the internet across the social platforms.
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Design or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education and experience, and training.
+ 10+ years leading concept, design, narrative and art direction in a branded content, agency, editorial or marketing environment.
+ Deep understanding of Basketball sport and style.
+ A passion for the athlete*, their sport and its culture.
+ Experienced creative leader and mentor, with a passion for helping everyone on the team - especially senior-level and entrepreneurial talent - to grow, succeed, and advance toward collective and individual goals.
+ Proven depth of experience in commissioning and directing across a multitude of different digital and physical platforms and channel environments.
+ Existing relationships within the creative industry, including external talent, photographers, typographers, designers, architects etc
+ Excellent verbal and visual communication skills.
+ Depth of experience across online, print, and experiential design, with a solid understanding of content and social platforms.
+ Highly proficient in design, typography, and retouching using Adobe Creative Suite plus other software such as Figma.
+ Astute attention to detail and meticulous organizational skills.
+ Experience leading a design/narrative studio and talent across various locations preferred.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
+ Work with the VP, Global Creative Directors of Brand Design & Brand Voice to build a creative point of view on key projects and collaborate with brand marketing, strategy, digital marketing, retail, brand experience, concepts, and product teams, amongst others.
+ This is a highly matrixed role that will require a partnership across multiple functions each day. It is based in WHQ, Beaverton, Oregon and this role will require a level of innovative and modern cross-functional relationship building.
+ Manage a virtual team of disciplines against the work within the Global Brand Creative Basketball team, providing creative leadership, inspiration, mentorship, support and direction. Encourage excellence, ambition, and team spirit.
+ Work strategically to drive brand awareness and deliver strong engagement through creative deliverables.
+ Deliver full end to end with clear creative strategy and narrative for every concept, best in class art direction, graphic design, social creative thinking, digital design and bringing the stories to life on our channels, across the retail landscape (owned and partners doors) plus digital and social platforms.
+ Develop and maintain relationships with photographers, filmmakers, illustrators, designers, and their agents, working strategically with other leads in the business to ensure the strongest approach to external talent.
+ Keep up to date with emerging trends in Basketball, fashion, design, film, art, media and technology as relevant to Nike and the creative team.
+ Strong collaboration and partnership with all the discipline leads across Art & design, Social and digital, Brand Experience, Narrative & Voice, Production & Operations.
+ Ensure all projects are well-planned, creatively exceptional, and delivered on-time. Work with the operations team to ensure projects are appropriately resourced and be a great partner to think enterprise across all studios.
+ Review project work for highest standards of quality, consistency, accuracy and successful completion.
+ Collaborate with the larger team to critically evaluate the creative process and continually improve it.
