Job Title: Downstream Processing Technician
Job Description
The Downstream Processing Technician will support the manufacture of commercial and clinical biologics by performing operations in accordance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs). The role involves a variety of functions related to downstream purification and filtration/HPLC, including propagation of mammalian cell culture, aseptic cell culture operations, and execution of large-scale production bioreactors ranging from 50L to 2000L. Responsibilities also include large-scale filtration, centrifugation, and chromatography.
Responsibilities
+ Review all area documents and ensure accuracy.
+ Assist in the manufacture of controls and calibrators, completing batch records following cGMPs.
+ Perform in-process assays using equipment such as spectrophotometers, pH meters, and clinical analyzers.
+ Weigh, transfer, and mix chemicals as required.
+ Conduct product filtrations and maintain cleanliness of equipment.
+ Clean and steam steel tanks using CIP/SIP processes.
+ Prepare glassware and steel tanks for sterilization in autoclave and operate the autoclave.
+ Maintain and calibrate lab equipment, including pumps, pH meters, and flow meters.
+ Monitor stocks of common lab supplies and respond to emergency notifications.
+ Work flexible hours, including weekends, and perform other job duties as required.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 2 years of work experience in manufacturing, operation, production, lab setting or related field.
+ Bachelor's Degree in a STEM-related field.
+ Knowledge of cGMP practices and aseptic techniques.
+ Experience with downstream processing steps and chemical concepts.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 6 months of experience in a GMP regulated environment preferred.
+ Experience in aseptic technique, chromatography, and HPLC.
+ Preferred: A 4-year STEM degree.
+ Subject Matter Expert on downstream processing steps.
Work Environment
The work environment includes cleanrooms and aseptic suites where the technician must be willing to gown up. Day shifts are from 6:15 am to 6:45 pm, on a rotating 12-hour schedule, working 7 days over a 2-week period. Employees must wear full gowning suits including bodysuits, gloves, hair & beard nets, face covers, and safety glasses. Personal items such as makeup, jewelry, nail polish, cologne/perfume, and scented lotions or hair care products are prohibited. The role requires the ability to lift at least 25 lbs independently and to stand for 80% of the shift.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
