We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Quality Engineer to interact with customers, ensuring their requirements are met and resolving any complaints. This role involves participating in customer presentations, developing PPAP including Process Flow Diagram, FMEA, Control Plan, and IMDS submissions, and performing dimensional checking and performance testing. The Quality Engineer will work closely with various departments to ensure product compliance with customer requirements and international standards.
Responsibilities
+ Interact with customers to understand and meet their requirements.
+ Resolve customer complaints and participate in presentations as needed.
+ Develop PPAP including Process Flow Diagram, FMEA, Control Plan, and IMDS submissions.
+ Perform dimensional checking and performance testing.
+ Ensure compliance with international standards such as IATF.
+ Prepare quality documentation and reports by analyzing production data.
+ Provide technical expertise on quality, statistical, and fastener subjects.
+ Act as a leader for improvement or problem-solving teams.
+ Supervise one or more quality technicians on a project basis.
+ Prepare work instructions and lead Fast-Response team meetings.
+ Research lot traceability information using the company MRP system.
+ Work with suppliers, vendors, and service providers.
+ Conduct internal QMS/EMS audits, internal product audits, and supplier audits.
+ Report audit results and follow up on corrective actions.
+ Interact with outside auditors during third-party and customer audits.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 5 years' experience with ISO and IATF standards (ISO 9001, 9100, and IATF).
+ Experience with basic measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
+ Understanding of statistical subjects like Normal distribution and SPC.
+ Experience with automotive PPAP’s including Flow diagram, FMEA, and Control Plan.
+ Knowledge of structured problem solving techniques such as 8D, DMAIC, and 5-WHY.
+ Customer and supplier interaction experience.
+ Experience in the metals industry.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ ASQ, Six Sigma, or Lean certification.
+ Understanding of fasteners, fastener manufacturing, and testing.
+ Project and people supervision experience.
+ Bachelor's degree preferred.
Work Environment
The Quality Engineer will frequently spend time on the manufacturing floor, interacting with a quality team of 12 individuals. The role involves heavy interaction with customers and suppliers with minimal travel required.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hudson, Ohio.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $41.00 - $48.00/hr.
