             Job Title: EHS Specialist Job Description We are seeking an EHS Specialist to join our team as an essential field-based resource. This role involves primarily focusing on areas within the plant that have the highest exposure to hazards. The EHS Specialist will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety standards and procedures through real-time coaching and auditing, working closely with maintenance and operations teams. Responsibilities + Engage directly with operators, maintenance crews, and contractors to reinforce safe behaviors. + Conduct live permit audits, task safety assessments, and hazard hunts to ensure compliance with safety standards. + Audit permitted and non-permitted tasks, recognizing when controls are missing or not properly applied. + Coach and influence frontline staff, ensuring adherence to Safe Work Permit (SWP), Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, Hot Work, and Line Breaking requirements. + Collaborate with union and non-union personnel to identify hazards and ensure safe work practices. + Provide daily or weekly summaries of observations, key risks, and positive practices. Essential Skills + Approximately 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment in an HSE capacity. + Proven ability to engage directly with field staff and provide real-time coaching. + Solid understanding of Safe Work Permit (SWP), Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, Hot Work, and Line Breaking requirements. + Strong observational and analytical skills to spot early warning signs of unsafe acts or conditions. + Excellent communication and influence skills, capable of building trust and accountability. + Self-directed and results-oriented with the ability to operate independently. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Associate's degree minimum. + Hands-on experience in chemical manufacturing, refining environments, or heavy manufacturing. + Comfortable conducting trend analyses or summary reports of field observations. + Familiar with HSES management systems, life-critical controls, and risk-based work planning. Work Environment This role involves working exclusively in the plant, engaging directly with frontline staff in a collaborative environment. The EHS Specialist will work in a dynamic setting, requiring a strong field presence to support safety initiatives and ensure compliance with safety standards.
