As an Operator in Training based in Farmington, NM, you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services - uninterrupted. Under supervision, performs a variety of tasks associated with learning the associated responsibilities of a certified water/wastewater operator - in preparation for receiving an entry-level certification. Essential Functions: •Under the direction of a certified Water or Wastewater Operator, performs tasks associated with the operations of a water or wastewater facility. •Operates treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water/wastewater, sludge, and effluent •Reports operating problems to lead operator or supervisor and performs directed corrective action during assigned shift •Monitors gauges, meters, and control panels •Observes and reports abnormalities to Certified Operator •After training, operates valves and gates either manually or by remote control •After training, starts and stops pumps, engines and generators to control and adjust flow and treatment processes •Maintains shift log and records meter and gauge readings •Learns and gains skill in a variety of equipment maintenance, servicing, and operating tasks. •Performs routine maintenance functions and custodial duties •Understands and carries out oral and written directions •Takes and records readings produced from the operation of equipment •Learns to take samples and perform routine process laboratory tests and analysis under supervision of certified operator •Daily and punctual attendance in the office and/or job site •Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work •This position may be required to be available on an on-call basis for emergencies •Travel between work locations is required. •Performs other related duties as assigned •Position reports to: Supervisor(s), Project Director, Project Manager •Level of supervision the employee receives •Works under close supervision, employee’s work product is subject to close, continuous inspection. •Employee receives detailed instructions on new projects and assignments.
