What you’ll be doing:

+ Conduct locomotive mechanical and electrical maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting to ensure safe and efficient operations

+ Inspect, maintain, and repair diesel engines, air brake systems, electrical components, and running gear

+ Perform periodic inspections and interpret oil sample results

+ Weld and use cutting torches to repair or modify locomotive equipment

+ Conduct daily inspections and servicing of locomotives

+ Maintain compliance with all railroad safety and regulatory requirements

+ Support transportation maintenance and operations as needed

Requirements to be successful in this position:

+ Minimum of 10 years’ experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing EMD locomotives preferred

+ Rail industry experience required

+ High school diploma or GED required

+ Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently

+ Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics and troubleshooting AC/DC circuits

+ Familiarity with EMD 90 and 190 manuals

+ Ability to obtain and maintain a CDL license

+ Willingness to work in all weather conditions and respond to on-call mechanical or electrical emergencies (24/7 availability)

+ Commitment to working safely, utilizing PPE, and following all company safety practices

Here are some of the physical requirements for this role:

+ Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and traverse uneven ground

+ Exposure to outdoor and industrial environments, including harsh weather and high or elevated areas

+ Ability to lift and maneuver components up to 50 lbs

+ Work safely around rail and industrial operations while ensuring compliance with FRA and TC regulations
