We are seeking a strategic and technically proficient Salesforce Marketing Cloud Integration Lead to architect and manage integrations across Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Data Cloud, Salesforce Lightning CRM and connected platforms. As part of the marketing organization, working in collaboration with IT/development teams, this role is pivotal in enabling seamless, data-driven, marketing automation and personalized customer experiences at scale.
You will lead the design, development, and optimization of integrated marketing technology platforms that connect marketing systems with enterprise data sources, translating marketing and business requirements into technical specs/user stories, ensuring high performing, reliable digital lifecycle campaigns.
What You'll Do
Integration Architecture
+ Architect end-to-end data flows across Salesforce CRM, Marketing Cloud, Data Cloud, web platforms, and behavioral analytics systems to support scalable, real-time personalization across email, SMS and push
+ Design and implement ETL pipelines and API-based integrations (REST/SOAP) for both batch and streaming data ingestion
+ Define data models, enforce schema consistency, and implement identity resolution logic
+ Evaluate integration middleware and event-driven architectures for extensibility and performance
API & System Integration
+ Build and manage secure, fault-tolerant API integrations across Salesforce Lightning, Marketing Cloud, and third-party systems
+ Collaborate with IT/engineering teams to implement reliable authentication and secure data exchange
+ Monitor API throughput, latency, and error rates; implement retry logic, circuit breakers, and logging for observability
CRM Data Synchronization
+ Design bi-directional sync mechanisms for Salesforce Lightning CRM objects (Contacts, Leads, Opportunities) with Marketing Cloud Data Extensions
+ Implement change data capture (CDC) and event-driven triggers for campaign orchestration
+ Ensure referential integrity and enforce deduplication across CRM and marketing systems
Journey & Automation Engineering
+ Develop event-driven journeys using Journey Builder and Automation Studio
+ Integrate Marketing Cloud Personalization and Einstein AI features for predictive content and send-time optimization
+ Configure triggered sends, transactional messaging, and multi-step automations using AMPscript, SSJS, and API-triggered events
+ Implement CI/CD pipelines for journey deployment and version control
Segmentation & Personalization Logic
+ Engineer segmentation logic using SQL, DE joins, and behavioral signals (e.g., job role, geo, funnel stage)
+ Build dynamic content modules using AMPscript and SSJS with conditional logic and personalization tokens
+ Optimize relational vs. flat data models for performance and scalability in segmentation queries
Data Governance & Compliance
+ Implement data governance frameworks for consent management, suppression logic, and subscriber lifecycle
+ Ensure compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and industry-specific regulations via audit trails, encryption, and access controls
+ Automate data hygiene processes: null checks, deduplication, schema validation, and ownership tagging
Performance Monitoring & Optimization
+ Instrument integrations and automations with telemetry for real-time monitoring (e.g., New Relic, Datadog)
+ Conduct A/B and multivariate testing using statistical significance thresholds and Bayesian models
+ Perform QA on rendering logic, segmentation filters, and dynamic content across devices and clients
Technical Leadership & Collaboration
+ Translate marketing use cases into technical epics and user stories; manage backlog in Agile environments
+ Collaborate with IT/development, web, analytics, and data engineering teams to capture behavioral signals (e.g., GTM, GA4, CDP events)
+ Lead technical workshops and architecture reviews with marketing stakeholders, in partnership with cross-functional IT/development stakeholders
Standards & DevOps Practices
+ Maintain coding standards for AMPscript, SSJS, and SQL; enforce naming conventions and BU folder structures
+ Implement Git-based version control, CI/CD pipelines, and rollback strategies for Marketing Cloud assets
+ Track Salesforce release notes and roadmap; assess impact and recommend adoption strategies
Scalability & Infrastructure Readiness
+ Design for high-throughput email delivery (400M+/year), low-latency personalization, and complex segmentation logic
+ Implement data transformations and schema mapping across heterogeneous systems
+ Plan for horizontal scaling, indexing strategies, and load balancing across integration layers
Reporting & Analytics Enablement
+ Build dashboards using Salesforce Reports, Tableau, or Datorama to visualize journey performance, conversion metrics, and engagement by segment, to marketing teams and executive leadership to guide decision making
+ Integrate campaign analytics into feedback loops for continuous optimization of segmentation and content strategies
Strategic Roadmapping
+ Develop a multi-quarter technical roadmap aligned with marketing and business objectives: personalization expansion, real-time eventing and behavior signals, 360° customer profile, and internationalization
+ Identify and remediate technical debt; prioritize foundational investments (e.g., unified customer profile, event-driven architecture)
What You'll Need
+ **Salesforce Certifications** : Marketing Cloud Administrator / Consultant / Developer; Salesforce Certified Integration Architect
+ **Experience** : 8-9+ years of hands-on experience working with Salesforce Marketing Cloud (Email Studio, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Contact / Audience Builder), including integrations with Salesforce CRM (Lightning), Data Cloud and external data sources. Adobe Experience Manager experience a plus
+ **Technical Proficiency** : Strong skills in AMPscript, SSJS, SQL; experience building API-based data integrations (REST / SOAP); familiarity with ETL tools or services
+ **Data & Identity Skills** : Understanding of data modeling, identity resolution, deduplication, relational & non-relational data handling
+ **Journey / Automation Expertise** : Ability to design and implement complex customer journeys, event-triggered emails, lifecycle / re-engagement workflows
+ **Segmentation & Personalization** : Ability to use behavioral, transactional, CRM, and web signals to segment audiences and deliver dynamic content
+ **Compliance / Governance Acumen** : Knowledge of data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA) and best practices in suppression, consent, data security
+ **Performance & Scale** : Experience working with large volume email sends, optimizing performance, monitoring, and diagnosing system or integration bottlenecks
+ **Cross-Functional Communication** : Able to translate business needs to technical architecture, interact with non-technical marketing stakeholders, and build collaborative relationships across IT/development and marketing teams
+ **Leadership / Strategy** : Able to set standards, lead discovery sessions, mentor developers, QA, marketing strategy, and contribute to defining long-term strategy in partnership with marketing and IT/development leadership
The typical annual salary range for this position is shown below and is negotiable depending upon experience and location. The position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.
$107,000.00 - $162,000.00
