Accounting Manager – Fund & Property Accounting

Private Real Estate Investment Firm | San Francisco, CA

A prestigious private real estate investment firm is seeking an Accounting Manager to join its San Francisco office. This is a high-impact opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with fund and property-level accounting experience to contribute to a growing team managing complex real estate investments.

About the Role

You’ll work closely with the CFO and fund administrator to oversee fund and property-level accounting, financial reporting, valuations, and investor communications. The firm invests across diverse real estate asset classes and structures, offering exposure to institutional, family office, and UHNW investors.

Key Responsibilities

+ Review monthly operating reports, variance analyses, and property cash flows

+ Lead quarterly investor reporting, waterfall calculations, and fund allocations

+ Prepare fund and property performance metrics and financial projections

+ Support quarterly valuation processes and SEC compliance filings

+ Manage capital calls, distributions, and carry calculations

+ Coordinate year-end audits and tax return preparation

+ Interface with operating partners and respond to investor and compliance inquiries

+ Assist with credit facility servicing and ad hoc financial analysis

Requirements

Ideal Candidate

+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred

+ 3–6 years of fund accounting experience, ideally within real estate

+ Solid understanding of GAAP and fair value accounting principles

+ Familiarity with tax reporting and regulatory compliance

+ Proficient in Excel and QuickBooks, with the ability to quickly adapt to new systems

+ Strong communication, organizational, and analytical thinking skills

+ Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a small team environment
