Nightwing is supporting a proprietary customer contract. Nightwing is delivering technical support to customer management and providing technical services to enable customer mission accomplishment.
The Senior System Administrator (Linux) will serve as a key member of the EINSTEIN Engineering Team, providing advanced technical support for the deployment, configuration, and sustainment of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)–based systems across multiple federal data centers. This position is hands-on and requires expertise in Linux administration, automation, and security hardening. The Senior System Administrator will ensure the availability, integrity, and performance of mission-critical systems. This position may require occasional CONUS travel in support of deployments, upgrades, and system sustainment.
**Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to** :
+ Deploy, configure, and maintain RHEL-based servers
+ Manage OS patching, STIG compliance, and performance tuning across production and lab environments
+ Configure and maintain virtualization and automation platforms such as KVM, Ansible, and Satellite
+ Support identity and access management via FreeIPA, LDAP, and Kerberos
+ Troubleshoot hardware, operating system, and network issues across distributed environments
+ Collaborate with engineering teams to implement monitoring and alerting solutions
+ Develop and maintain system documentation, configuration baselines, and change records in accordance with customer policy
+ Support integration testing, site readiness assessments, and post-deployment verification
+ Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and modernization efforts across multiple data centers
+ Provide escalation support and technical mentoring to junior system administrators
+ Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures
+ Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
+ U.S. Citizenship
+ Active Secret clearance. Must be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
+ Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability
+ Minimum 6+ years of systems administration experience
+ 4+ years with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems.
+ Strong understanding of Linux networking, storage, system services, and security controls
+ Experience with **Ansible** and Bash Scripting
+ Proficiency in virtualization technologies
+ Experience performing system hardening and applying DISA STIGs or equivalent compliance baselines
+ Familiarity with configuration management, patch management, and system monitoring practices.
Desired Skills:
+ Experience supporting Intelligence, DoD, or DHS Customers
+ Familiarity with ScienceLogic SL1, Splunk, or Elastic Stack monitoring and alerting.
+ Knowledge of FreeIPA, OpenVPN, or Satellite Capsule configuration.
+ Experience with AWS EC2, Terraform, or other Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks.
+ Exposure to large-scale deployment or data center operations.
+ Experience with ServiceNow ticketing and change management workflows a plus.
+ Strong written documentation and collaboration skills.
Required Education:
+ BS Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, OR Computer Systems Engineering. Two years of related work experience may be substituted for each year of degree level education.
Desired Certifications:
+ Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification preferred.
+ ITIL Foundation v4 Certified or willing to complete one year from hire
+ DODI 8570.1-M Compliance at IAT Level I
