    Job Title: Tooling Operator (1st Shift)

    Job Description

    A large forge and fabricator of aerospace products is seeking skilled individuals for immediate machine operating roles. As a Tooling Operator, you will play a crucial role in operating various machines to press and form thicker metal, which will be used to construct airplane frames. This position involves working with a variety of machines such as band saws, press machines, bump machines, and stretch machines. Measuring parts with precision and maintaining a clean work area are also key components of the role. The tooling operator will serve as a floater, providing support wherever needed in the shop and will receive appropriate training.

    Responsibilities

    + Operate different machines to press and form metal for airplane frames.

    + Measure parts accurately using a tape measure.

    + Maintain a clean and organized work area.

    + Assist in various areas of the shop as needed.

    + Serve as a floater and adapt to different tasks based on requirements.

    Essential Skills

    + 3+ years of experience in machine operation within a manufacturing environment.

    + Strong job tenure.

    + Experience in metal manufacturing or forging industry.

    + Proficiency in JibCrane or Overhead Crane operations.

    + Ability to read a tape measure accurately.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience with CNC machines, forge operation, press machines, and blueprint reading.

    + Experience in saw operations, fabrication, and sheet metal handling.

    + Proficient in math and extensive measuring experience.

    + Experience as a furnace operator.

    Work Environment

     

    This role is based in a manufacturing environment that is not climate controlled, leading to hotter conditions in the summer. The shop is extremely organized with a clean and labeled setup. The dress code includes steel-toed shoes, jeans, and a work shirt, along with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). The day shift schedule is from 5:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, with additional hours as needed. Fridays are from 5:00 am to 1:30 pm, with potential for extra hours, while weekends are worked as needed. Training for all positions will take place on the day shift for approximately two weeks before transitioning to the respective assigned shifts.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of HOUSTON, Texas.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
