Job Title: Printing Press Feeder

Job Description

This is direct hire opportunity with great starting pay and lots of opportunity for growth! Applicants will need experience in the printing industry. The Press Feeder is responsible for the preparation and operation of an automatic feeder and maintaining a trailing coater. In addition, you will assist the press operator in tandem press operations as assigned.

Responsibilities

+ Prepare the press feed section according to the sheet size involved.

+ Assist the press operator in setting up the press, including installing the press plate, setting dampeners and rollers, filling the ink fountain, and other duties as assigned.

+ Check each load of plates for correct size, job number, plate position, and general condition before pushing into the feeder.

+ Line up loads for proper continuous feeding and adjust the double sheet ejector.

+ Stay constantly alert during runs to catch damaged sheets and prevent jams or passage to the press that may cause damage.

+ Insert sheet holding forks near the end of each load for continuous feeding operation.

+ Assist the press operator during runs in mixing inks, washing the press plate and blanket, and other duties as assigned.

+ Operate the press completely during the temporary absence of the press operator under their supervision.

+ Perform miscellaneous oiling of the press and feeder as directed.

+ Wash up the press during color changes and at the end of the day/shift/week.

+ Maintain accurate logs and work orders with operation performed, sheet count, and spoilage.

+ Occasionally hand pile sheets on the feeder skid as assigned.

+ Set up the trailing coater and maintain film weight, viscosity, and coverage during runs.

+ Change the composition coating roller when necessary and perform proper wash-up of the coating machine.

Essential Skills

+ Experience with printing press operations and troubleshooting.

+ Skill in quality inspection and press feed section preparation.

+ Ability to assist with setup tasks and daily cleaning of the press.

+ Proficiency in logging information and maintaining detailed records.

+ Mechanical skills, lithography knowledge, and machine operation experience.

+ High school diploma, GED, or vocational certificate required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Must be able to pass the Farnsworth Munsell 100 Hue Test.

+ Ability to use and read basic measuring equipment.

+ Must be able to read and comprehend work order and layout specifications.

+ Knowledge of coating materials.

+ Ability to work with materials weighing up to approximately 60 lbs.

+ Position requires standing most of the time.

Work Environment

The department is climate-controlled with a close-knit culture. Training occurs on the 1st shift (7 am-3 pm) for 3-8 weeks before moving to the 2nd shift (3 pm-11 pm) or 3rd shift (11 pm-7 am), with shift premiums provided.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60216.00 - $69248.40/yr.

Bereavement Policy: Recently enhanced to provide additional paid time off for immediate family relationships, including parents, spouses, and children.

Health, Safe, and Personal (HSP) Time Policy: Offers 40 hours of paid time off per year, separate from vacation time for appointments, personal needs, or emergencies. This time can be used in 1-hour increments, making it especially flexible.
