             Job Title: Feed Mill Operator Job Description The Feed Mill Technician I plays a crucial role within our team, handling grain testing and manually adding feed ingredients according to established procedures. This role also involves learning inventory management, maintenance, repair, and operation of production-related equipment, along with housekeeping duties. Compliance with all relevant company policies and regulations is mandatory. Responsibilities + Conduct grain testing, including DON testing, dockage, moisture, bushel weight, and foreign material assessments. + Perform manual addition of feed ingredients and accurately document medication and vitamin usage. + Develop a foundational understanding of animal nutrition and the interaction of ingredients with milling and grinding processes. + Clean and maintain the mill through routine housekeeping. + Perform general mechanical duties as needed. + Use and understand Laserfiche, The Wenger System, and WEM software. + Manage ingredients and maintain an orderly inventory of bags. + Complete required training promptly. + Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager or Shift Supervisor. Essential Skills + Experience as a machine operator and in mill operations. + Ability to monitor and manually feed ingredients into machinery. + Capability to lift up to 60 pounds, with assistance for weights up to 100 pounds. + Proficiency in operating heavy machinery for items over 100 pounds. + Ability to work in confined spaces and dusty conditions. Additional Skills & Qualifications + High school diploma or equivalent is required. + Minimum of 2 years' experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. + Background in agriculture through education or experience is preferred. + Knowledge of feed manufacturing equipment operation and maintenance is preferred. + Ability to operate various types of machinery and heavy equipment is preferred. + Valid forklift certificate or willingness to obtain within the first 12 months is preferred. + Flexibility to work overtime and any shift, including weekends. Work Environment Work in a poultry and swine feed manufacturing facility, characterized by a dusty atmosphere with animal feed odors. Positions are available for the 3rd shift (10pm-6am, Sunday to Thursday) and a weekend shift (6pm-7am, Friday to Sunday). Shift differentials include $2/hr for 2nd and 3rd shifts, and $3/hr for weekend shifts. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.75 - $26.75/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
