    Job Title: Forklift Mechanic

    Job Description

    The Forklift Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, adjusting, repairing, and overhauling Material Handling Equipment (MHE), including forklifts, pallet jacks, and aerial boom and scissor lifts.

    Responsibilities

    + Repair and maintain the operating condition of Material Handling Equipment (MHE), including forklifts, pallet jacks, aerial boom, and scissor lifts ranging from 2,000 to 70,000 lb. capacity.

    + Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and reassemble equipment to OEM specifications and Navy standards, using various lifting equipment, hand, and pneumatic tools.

    + Conduct basic rigging procedures as needed.

    + Examine equipment and parts for damage and wear using calibrated measuring tools.

    + Repair and replace electric, diesel, propane, or gasoline MHE components such as air systems, cooling systems, starting and charging systems.

    + Repair vehicle chassis, electrical systems, drive trains, brake systems, and hydraulic systems.

    + Repair and rebuild broken parts and structural members using welding and other fabrication techniques.

    + Operate and inspect machines and equipment to diagnose component defects and perform repairs.

    + Identify and research replacement parts for order.

    + Perform other related duties as assigned, including incidental work in other classifications when necessary.

    Essential Skills

    + Four years of experience as an MHE, forklift, or heavy equipment mechanic in commercial or governmental repair work.

    + Full knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and repair electric, diesel, propane, or gasoline powered MHE engines, associated power trains, air and hydraulic brake systems, and all other component parts.

    + Working knowledge and ability to diagnose MHE electrical and computer-controlled systems.

    + Possession of hand tools of the trade to perform the normal work of the classification.

    + Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

    + Ability to obtain and maintain a Company-provided MHE license within 90 days.

    + Meet and maintain Company physical and security requirements and clearance eligibility when required.

    + Ability to lift 50 pounds.

    + Good communication skills for a service team environment.

    This position is based on a Naval Base, providing a unique and robust work setting.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract position based out of Bremerton, Washington.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $38.74 - $38.74/hr.
