Plant Accountant

Job Description

The Plant Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing the financial operations of the manufacturing plant. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and provides cost analysis to support operational efficiency and profitability. The position serves as a key liaison between plant operations and corporate finance.

Responsibilities

+ Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the plant.

+ Ensure adherence to GAAP and company policies.

+ Help maintain accurate records for accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.

+ Assist with tax filings and compliance with state and federal regulations, where needed.

+ Analyze production costs, material variances, and overhead allocations.

+ Support budgeting and forecasting processes for the plant.

+ Monitor and reconcile inventory valuation and physical counts.

+ Maintain fixed asset ledgers and assist in capital expenditure tracking.

+ Assist and maintain internal audit controls.

+ Conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance and operational effectiveness.

+ Work closely with plant management to monitor financial performance against operational goals.

+ Provide insights and recommendations to improve cost efficiency.

Essential Skills

+ 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

+ Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles.

+ Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.

+ Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Detail-oriented with high accuracy.

+ Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

+ Strong problem-solving and analytic skills.

Work Environment

The position requires working onsite from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The role offers flexible hours, the opportunity to train with the current controller until her retirement, and potential for long-term career growth.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Valley City, OH!

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $37.50/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Valley City,OH.
