             Seeking a Payroll Specialist in the Wausau Area!! Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to ensure the overall accuracy and efficiency of our payroll operations. The ideal candidate will manage payroll processes, implement system updates, and collaborate with various departments to maintain compliance and accuracy. Responsibilities + Ensure overall accuracy of payroll through a system of checks and balances. + Manage timely and accurate payment of payroll, tax deposits, garnishments, and other payroll-related submissions. + Maintain payroll systems including software updates, master files, and annual tax table updates. + Implement and test payroll systems for new acquisitions to ensure accuracy. + Handle calendar year-end processing including W-2 reporting and system updates. + Administer internal controls and maintain functional audit trails. + Prepare for and participate in annual audits, including workers' compensation and financial statements. + Coordinate filings with regulatory and governmental agencies. + Assign tasks, schedule projects, and monitor productivity for process efficiency. + Provide training, mentoring, and oversight for payroll specialists. + Assist management with employee evaluations. + Serve as the primary contact for payroll policy inquiries and tax-related issues. + Offer technical guidance on payroll matters. + Monitor reportable items for W-2 inclusion such as tuition, moving expenses, and non-cash compensation. + Collaborate with the HR department to share relevant information. + Monitor system caps on tax shelters. + Demonstrate accuracy, efficiency, and maintain confidentiality. Essential Skills + Associate Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience. + Previous experience in payroll or accounting within a business office setting. + In-depth knowledge of payroll processes and systems. + Demonstrated accuracy, efficiency, and confidentiality. + Ability to work independently with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. + Possesses in-depth knowledge of payroll systems and remains current with federal and state payroll law changes. Additional Skills & Qualifications + UKG Pro Experience + Experience going through a scaling process/acquisition Work Environment This position is based at our Wausau Corporate office, requiring 40 hours a week from Monday to Friday, with typical office hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, offering some flexibility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wausau, Wisconsin. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.84 - $31.66/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
