Job Title: Surgical TechDepartment: GH Operating Room Location: Gouverneur Hospital Hours Per Week: 40Schedule: Monday to Friday, 6:45 am to 3:15 pm; No on call requirements or weekends. SUMMARY: Reports to Director of Perioperative Services through the Operating Room Charge RN. Facilitates the operative or invasive procedure by preparing and providing the required sterile instruments, supplies and equipment. Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Function as a scrub person by preparing, organizing, and maintaining sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies during operative and invasive procedures.
+ Ensure proper sterile technique, assist surgical teams throughout procedures, and participate in post-procedure cleaning and room preparation.
+ Perform instrument and supply accounting, prepare sterile dressings, and transport used instruments for decontamination.
+ Maintain patient confidentiality and engage in ongoing education and competency training related to surgical scrub duties.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Military surgical technology program
+ Employed as a surgical technologist in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring between 12/31/10 – 12/31/14
+ Graduated from a Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)- or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES)- accredited program with a Surgical Technology major AND holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist credential administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization within 12 months of graduation
+ Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

PAY RANGE:
$22.75 - $32.53
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
