    •​Within Power BI, the Core Experiences Design team enhances the foundational product experiences that help people explore, create, and share insights with confidence. We focus on making data approachable for everyone, from first-time creators to business leaders, through clear design and seamless interaction. We are on a journey to redefine how people engage with data by integrating Copilot and conversational capabilities that make analysis more natural, guided, and intelligent.

    Responsibilities

    + ​​Design intuitive and cohesive experiences that make it simple for users to visualize, format, and present data in Power BI.

    + Collaborate with PMs, engineers, and content designers to deliver end-to-end solutions that improve report creation, customization, and usability.

    + Evolve the design of Power BI’s core visuals and formatting experiences to make powerful capabilities approachable for all users, from beginners to experts.

    + Translate complex data and visualization concepts into clear, consistent, and accessible design patterns that align with Microsoft’s Fluent design language.

    + Use research insights, telemetry, and customer feedback to iterate on designs and improve product quality, efficiency, and satisfaction.

    + Contribute to the shared design system and visual standards that support scalability and consistency across Power BI and the broader Fabric ecosystem.

    Qualifications

    Required/Minimum Qualifications

    + ​​Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 3+ years experience working in product or service design

    + OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).​

    + 2+ years experience shipping products, services and/or delivering to B2B customers as a result of an end-to-end design process .​

    + 3+ years in Figma

    Other Requirements

    Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

     

    + This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

    Preferred/Additional Qualifications

    + ​​Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 3+ years experience working in product or service design

    + OR Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 5+ years experience working in product or service design

    + OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).

    + 3+ years experience shipping products, services and/or delivering to B2B customers as a result of an end-to-end design process ideally for B2B audiences.​

     

    Product Design IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
