Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer

A leading aerospace and defense technology provider is seeking a Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer to join its team in Cedar Rapids. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep experience in enterprise networking, infrastructure security, and system resilience. The position supports high-impact systems in a secure, compliance-driven environment and requires an active DoD Secret clearance.

What You’ll Do

+ Configure and manage enterprise-grade switches, routers, and firewalls.

+ Design, deploy, and modernize scalable network solutions across diverse computing environments.

+ Utilize scripting and automation tools to enhance network operations and security.

+ Collaborate closely with Cybersecurity teams to uphold strict federal and organizational security standards.

+ Provide technical leadership in backup, restore, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.

+ Troubleshoot complex network issues with a focus on root cause analysis and long-term mitigation.

+ Offer guidance on network resource allocation, performance optimization, and scalability.

+ Participate in weekend and after-hours support rotations as needed.

Responsibilities to Anticipate

+ Architect and implement secure, high-performance network systems.

+ Maintain and enhance infrastructure in alignment with industry best practices.

+ Support identity and access management solutions such as PKI and LDAP.

+ Apply system hardening techniques using tools like SCAP and STIGs.

+ Use vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Nessus, Fortify) to assess and improve network security posture.

+ Contribute to Agile development cycles (Scrum, SAFe) in cross-functional engineering teams.

Required Qualifications

+ U.S. Citizenship (required for clearance eligibility).

+ Active DoD Secret clearance.

+ Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 8+ years of experience, or Master’s degree with 5+ years.

+ Current CCNA certification (CCNP preferred).

+ Must obtain DoDD 8140 / 8570 Certification within 3 months of hire.

+ Minimum 5 years of experience in:

+ Security infrastructure products and capabilities.

+ Firewall implementation and network security.

+ Infrastructure backup, restore, disaster recovery, and business continuity.

+ Developing solutions and documentation for complex technical challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

+ Current CCNP certification.

+ Security+ or equivalent certification (or ability to obtain within 3 months).

+ Active DoD Top Secret clearance.

+ Experience with system hardening and compliance tools (SCAP, STIGs).

+ Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools (Nessus, Fortify).

+ Knowledge of identity and access management systems (PKI, LDAP).

+ Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, SAFe).

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, both independently and in team settings.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00/hr.
