             Job Title: Rotating Machinery SME Type: Long-term Contract Contractor Work Model: Remote We are seeking a Rotating Machinery Subject Matter Expert (SME) to collaborate with suppliers and play a pivotal role in engineering efforts. Reporting to the System Design Manager, you will be instrumental in integrating and coordinating the work of engineers and system suppliers. Your expertise will ensure that hardware designs align perfectly with design intent, contributing to the successful development of advanced engineering projects. Key Responsibilities: + Oversee the design and manufacturing processes of large nuclear fluid pumps, ensuring adherence to project timelines and specifications. + Provide technical oversight to partners and subcontractors, guiding the development of mechanical system designs. + Coordinate comprehensive reviews of analyses, including thermal, seismic, structural, pipe stress, and heat transfer, integrating results into the overall design delivery. + Ensure compliance with relevant design codes and standards, such as ASME, ANS, ASTM, IEEE, and NFPA, throughout the system design. + Deliver technical direction and guidance to engineers regarding nuclear and non-nuclear related design standards. + Analyze and allocate regulatory criteria to complex mechanical and process systems. + Support project planning and maintain schedule adherence for design activities, ensuring integration with the overall design delivery schedule. + Collaborate with the design team in creating and managing drawing packages, including Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), 3D models, and system interface drawings. + Provide technical direction and oversight for supplier projects, working closely with the Contract Administrator and Supplier Project Engineer to ensure timely and accurate deliverables. + Establish and maintain system requirements and specifications documentation, such as Engineering Design Specifications for major equipment. + Propose, initiate, and oversee testing programs aimed at qualifying systems. + Generate comprehensive design packages that include calculations, design reports, mechanical drawings, and specifications. Key Qualifications and Skills: + Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited university. + 15+ years of direct experience with proven skills in mechanical systems. + Minimum of 5 years of direct experience with pumps and rotating machinery, particularly in large vertical pump design and manufacture. + Extensive experience across the hardware lifecycle, from concept to execution. + Proven supplier/contractor coordination and project management experience. + Experience with high-temperature systems and multi-discipline integration, particularly within fluid system design, is highly desired. + Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated expertise in fluid and structural analysis, as well as tolerance analysis; proficiency in reading engineering drawings is essential. + Exceptional technical writing, communication, and presentation skills, with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to technical excellence. + A self-starter with the ability to lead and coordinate design team efforts with minimal guidance. + An aptitude for managing projects with competing objectives and design constraints, resolving conflicts effectively and efficiently. + Experience working to ASME NQA-1 standards.
