Job Title: Housing Inspector

Type: Contract To Hire

Compensation: $21 - $24.04 hourly

Contractor Work Model: Onsite

Hours: 8a-5p, M-F

Job Description:

+ Perform Housing Quality Standards inspections, including Lead-Based Paint compliance, for subsidized housing units under the Housing Choice Voucher Program.

+ Identify repair responsibilities between owners and participants and recommend corrective actions for deficiencies.

+ Communicate inspection findings to property owners and tenants.

+ Complete inspection reports and ensure documentation is accurately recorded and filed.

+ Provide information to support rental analysis and rent comparables.

+ Interpret and implement HUD regulations and program guidelines.

+ Track inspection outcomes and prepare monthly inspection and data reports.

+ Maintain accurate records, logs, and reports, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory standards.

+ Deliver excellent customer service and program information to the public.

+ Perform all additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree or three (3) years of equivalent experience performing housing-related inspections or fieldwork.

+ Minimum one (1) year of experience working directly with the public in a Housing Choice Voucher Program, low-income housing, or similar environment.

+ Strong knowledge of Housing Choice Voucher Program policies and HUD regulations.

+ Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.

+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

+ Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain accurate documentation.

+ Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.

+ Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and sound judgment.

+ Certification in Housing Choice Voucher Proficiency (to be completed within 90 days of hire).
