    Ideally, this is a hybrid role in North Carolina (near RTP or Wilmington, NC). We would consider East Coast candidates outside of RTP or Wilmington, NC as well.

     

    What will you do in this role?

     

    Directs systems development and/or IT operations staff in providing IT services to assigned business functions or locations. This position is responsible for providing senior IT direction for a functional area across multiple locations. The goal of this position is to ensure the IT requirements for their assigned business functions or locations are efficiently, effectively met by all involved IT staff.

     

    A day in the life:

     

    Leads the work of functional area through subordinate directors and/or managers.

     

    Hires, develops and manages staff.

     

    Liaises with business functions and/or locations to ensure IT priorities are in step with the business priorities and that commitments are being delivered on time and within budget.

     

    Leads IT teams, operational management and cross functional teams to ensure a high standard of service and adherence to internal controls and procedures.

     

    Advises and consults with business functions and/or locations on information technology requests, services and capabilities.

     

    Advises on the potential impact of current and future laws and regulations on the operation of the organization.

     

    Coordinates IT participation in Business Development, sponsor or regulatory audits ensuring accurate and timely responses.

     

    Manages assigned vendor relationships and contracts to ensure contractual obligations and business requirements are met at the best available price and quality expectation.

     

    Develops and manages departmental expense and capital budgets -- ensuring appropriate business approvals are obtained for projects.

    Qualification Requirements

    Education requirements:

    Bachelors degree at a minimum is required.

     

    _In some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role._

    Experience requirements:

    Previous IT experience (comparable to 12+ years) is required.

     

    5+ years of strong direct people management experience is required.

     

    Budget management is required.

     

    Demonstrated experience with strategic technical planning for growth and advancement of departmental technology is required.

     

    IT experience leading a large global team is highly preferred.

     

    Experience working with Sales Force is preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Minimum of 10 years experience with IT Operations or Systems Development

     

    Minimum of 5 years project management experience or similar leadership type role.

     

    Minimum of 6 years experience in management of technical staff.

     

    Minimum of 3 years experience in an IT business liaison role, working with senior business managers.

     

    Working knowledge with systems in use at PPD considered a plus.

     

    Client focused approach with strong interpersonal skills.

     

    Must be able to multi task and pay close attention to detail.
