    Job Description

    **AECOM** is seeking a **Electrical Engineering Intern** to be based in **Novi, Michigan** .

     

    _This position is expected to begin in May 2026._

    The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

    + Assist in the design and drafting of electrical plans for infrastructure projects, including lighting, power distribution, and inductive charging systems.

    + Support load calculations, equipment sizing, and preparation of one-line diagrams under engineer supervision.

    + Use AutoCAD or MicroStation to prepare and revise electrical plan sheets and wiring layouts.

    + Participate in field inspections and construction observation, documenting existing conditions and verifying installations.

    + Assist with system testing and commissioning for lighting, traffic signals, or backup power systems.

    + Contribute to the preparation of engineering reports, cost estimates, and material takeoffs.

    + Coordinate with civil and structural teams to ensure proper conduit routing and utility integration.

    + Learn and apply relevant codes and standards in design and field work.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    + Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field and must have completed at least two years of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Assist in the production of all phases of the design process.

    + Experience in or passion to work with electrical lighting projects.

    + General knowledge of engineering drawings.

    + Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite of programs.

    + Well organized and possesses an innovative mindset.

    Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $20 to $25.
