    About the role

     

    As a Senior Java Developer (Python and Gen AI Concepts), you will make an impact by designing and developing scalable backend systems that power enterprise-grade applications. You will be a valued member of the Technology & Engineering team and work collaboratively with product managers, designers, and fellow developers to deliver high-quality solutions.

    In this role, you will:

    + Design, develop, and maintain robust backend applications using Java J2EE and Spring Boot.

    + Build and optimize RESTful APIs and microservices to support front-end applications and third-party integrations.

    + Ensure application performance, scalability, and security through testing and monitoring.

    + Collaborate in code reviews, technical discussions, and agile ceremonies to improve team practices.

    + Stay current with emerging technologies, especially in Gen AI and Python, to enhance development capabilities.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a full onsite position requiring 5 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Plano, TX, US.

    What you need to have to be considered:

    + 5 to 7 years in hands-on experience with Python and Gen AI concepts, including GitHub Copilot.

    + Proficiency in Java J2EE and Spring Boot, including Spring MVC, Spring Security, and Spring Data.

    + Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and working with JSON/XML.

    + Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and microservices architecture.

    + Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and ORM frameworks like Hibernate.

    + Proficiency in version control systems like Git.

    + Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.

    These will help you stand out:

    + Experience with AWS cloud platform.

    + Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins or GitLab CI.

    + Familiarity with front-end technologies such as Angular, React, or Vue.js.

    + Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.

    Salary and compensation:

    The annual salary for this position will be between $112k to $130k depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
