    At the Louisiana State Police, our mission is to safeguard communities and strengthen trust by maintaining accurate, secure, and accessible criminal justice information. We’re seekingCriminal Records Analyststo join the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Information (BCII)—the state’s central repository for criminal history records. BCII supports law enforcement, courts, and the public by providing critical services such as expungements, fingerprint analysis, background checks, and sex offender registry management.

     

    In this role, you will process, verify, and maintain sensitive criminal justice data that directly supports public safety across Louisiana. Analysts review criminal history records, research and reconcile inconsistencies, and provide technical assistance to local, state, and federal agencies. This position requires attention to detail, a commitment to accuracy, and the ability to handle highly confidential information.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Two years of experience in administrative services.

    EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

    Job Duties and Other Information

    Job Duties:

    As aCriminal Records Analystat BCII, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy, security, and accessibility of Louisiana’s criminal history records. In this role, you will:

     

    + Receive, classify, reconcile, and file criminal history records and applications from criminal justice agencies and the public.

    + Research, verify, and resolve incomplete or inconsistent data by accessing multiple automated criminal history systems.

    + Update and maintain computerized criminal history files, including expungements, fingerprint submissions, sex offender registry, and background checks.

    + Communicate with courts, attorneys, law enforcement agencies, and the public regarding criminal history records, processes, and requirements.

    + Scan, index, and upload official documents such as crash reports and mugshots into state and national databases.

    + Prepare accurate documentation and reports to support compliance with state and federal standards.

    + Provide technical assistance and training to local, state, and federal agencies on the proper use of criminal justice information systems.

    + Make confidential inquiries into highly sensitive computerized files while adhering to strict security and confidentiality guidelines.

    Position-Specific Details:

    Appointment Type: This can be filled as a Job Appointment, Probational, or Promotional Appointment

     

    Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Criminal Records Analyst 1,2,3, or 4, depending on the selected applicant.

     

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8AM-4:30PM

     

    Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
