    Provides services in support of the advocacy, intervention, prevention, education and training to address domestic violence. Provides comprehensive services 24 hours a day/7 days per week to assist and advocate for victims of domestic abuse and to ensure a victim's easy transition to community resources and acts as a liaison between Victim Advocates (VAs), community, MFed, and government leadership. Assists with training and accountability of site’s contract VAs.

     

    + Provides crisis intervention and comprehensive services to include safety planning, risk assessment, emotional support, arrangement of transportation; accompany victims to medical, legal and/or law enforcement appointments, assist in securing protective orders, emergency food and/or shelter and information benefits. (30%)

    + Works directly with victims to ensure that expressed needs are advocated and presented to personnel at intervening agencies and assist victims with navigating the system to obtain the services desired and refer victims to the appropriate services for continued care. (25%)

    + Provides prevention awareness and education, the contractor shall conduct a minimum of 40 training/classes, and/or outreach activities, to Soldiers, Family Members, Commanders, ACS Partners, and the community at large. A minimum of 10 outreach and/or training events shall be conducted each quarter. (15%)

    + Answers 24/7/365 domestic abuse safe line where they must make contact either telephonically or face to face with a victim of domestic/sexual abuse within 20 minutes of receipt of call or contact by other means. (15%)

    + Conducts staff trainings (including training new hires) staff cases with VAs, acts as a liaison between VAs, community, Magellan Federal, and government. Updates master list of VA cases, quality control of VADATS (government database)/case files, assists with accountability of VAs, responsible for developing on-call schedule, and leads staff meetings. (15%)

    Other Job Requirements

    Responsibilities

    Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school in social work, psychology, marriage, family and child counseling, counseling or behavior science, education, community health or public health.

     

    2+ years of experience working with victims of domestic abuse/sexual assault violence or victim advocacy services.

     

    2+ years of experience working with a military or civilian social service agency serving military families.

     

    Thorough knowledge of family violence dynamics, trauma informed advocacy services, environmental stressors, safety planning, risk assessments, local community resources, and federal and state laws pertaining to domestic abuse, Family law and the Victim Rights Bill.

     

    Ability to intervene in crisis situations exercising careful judgment, applying flexibility and innovative problem-solving, and taking appropriate precautions to protect the welfare of those to whom they provide services under the guiding principle of “do no harm”.

     

    Ability to work independently to assess risk, develop, implement, and evaluate safety and intervention plans to meet victim needs.

     

    Ability to conduct briefings to small and large groups of civilians, Soldiers and Commanders.

     

    Must be available to provide crisis intervention services 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

     

    Willing to travel within an estimated 50-mile radius of the assigned work location.

     

    Ability to effectively interface and communicate with civilian and military personnel at all levels.

     

    Must be certified by the government provided National Advocate Credentialing Program at the time of hire. If VAs are not credentialed at the time of hire, they will be given one year to obtain the basic level credential.

    This is a Service Contract Act (SCA) covered position. The pay rate and health and welfare allowance are specified in the applicable wage determination agreement.
