Who we’re looking for:
The UW Medicine - Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology (DLMP) in Seattle, WA has a fantastic opportunity for a **Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 2** with the **Transfusion Services Laboratory (TSL)** at Harborview Medical Center.
TSL staff respond to trauma and massive bleeds throughout the hospital, including the emergency room and the operating rooms. We also provide blood components carried on Airlift NW helicopters and fixed wing aircraft, as well as on our Medic One ambulances across King County. CLTs are involved with inventory and preparation of blood components, placing blood orders, receiving and ordering patient samples, and answering phone calls.
Work schedule:
+ 100% FTE
+ Monday – Friday with rotating weekends and holidays
+ Day shift
What you’ll contribute:
+ Respond to Emergency, Operating Room and other clinical areas that require transfusion support with blood components.
+ Provide customer service and communication with patient care areas and blood center. Call product orders to floor. Take verbal orders for blood products as needed.
+ Thaw frozen blood components to maintain inventory and support for transfusion patients.
+ Combine/pool/aliquot blood components if necessary.
+ Operate laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, portable refrigerators, plasma thawers, sterile docker, refrigerators, platelet rotator and freezers.
+ Review and sign off on new and revised documents within specified time period.
+ Complete all training modules and documentation within specified time period.
+ Assist with training and competencies as needed.
+ Follow hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
+ Participate in quality improvement process.
+ Perform the work of a CLT 1.
+ Perform related duties as required.
What you’ll need:
+ High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience.
+ Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
