    We are seeking a dedicated and results-driven Project Intermediate Manager to join our dynamic team in the Office of Well-Being at the University Medical School. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in managing and executing a variety of operational projects aimed at improving the quality and safety of healthcare delivery using multidisciplinary, systems-based engineering techniques. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, experience in project management, and an ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams.

    Responsibilities*

    + **Project Management & Planning:** Lead and manage multiple projects, ensuring timely, budget-compliant, and scope-specific delivery. Develop comprehensive project plans, covering timelines, budgets, resource allocation, risk management, and stakeholder communication.

    + **Stakeholder Collaboration & Coordination:** Work closely with Michigan Medicine stakeholders to gather requirements, define objectives, align on deliverables, and implement solutions that enhance patient safety and system efficiency.

    + **Progress Monitoring:** Track project progress and performance using appropriate tools and techniques.

    + **Risk Management:** Identify and mitigate potential risks, adjusting project plans as necessary.

    + **Reporting:** Prepare and present regular project status reports to key stakeholders, ensuring clear and transparent communication.

    + **Meeting Facilitation:** Organize and facilitate project meetings, prepare agendas, and document minutes and action items.

    + **Documentation:** Maintain project documentation, ensuring adherence to university standards and policies.

    + **Process Improvement** : Continuously seek and implement opportunities to improve project management processes and methodologies.

    + **Systems Analysis:** Apply systems thinking to analyze the interactions and contributions of different components within the healthcare system.

    Required Qualifications*

    + Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

    + Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project management, preferably within an educational, research, or similar institutional environment.

    + Professional certification such as PMP, CAPM, or equivalent is highly desirable.

    + Proven track record of managing projects of varying complexity, including budget management and resource coordination.

    + Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a strong ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders.

    + Proficiency in project management software such as SmartSheets or similar tools.

    + Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.

    + Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.

    Desired Qualifications*

    + Experience with systems engineering, particularly in healthcare contexts.

    + Understanding of multidisciplinary approaches, involving collaboration with experts from fields like medicine, nursing, and public health.

    + Ability to conduct research on practical issues faced by patients and healthcare providers and to develop innovative solutions.

    Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.     Background Screening

     

    Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
