Working Title: College Laboratory Asst 1 - Fashion Design Lab Assistant Institution: Minneapolis Community and Technical College Classification Title: College Laboratory Asst 1 Bargaining Unit / Union: 207: AFSCME - Technical City: Minneapolis FLSA: Non Job Exempt Full Time / Part Time: Part time Employment Condition: Classified - Seasonal (Seasonal) Salary Range: $20.89 - $29.68 Job Description The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical and student assistance within Minneapolis College's Fashion Design program. This role ensures a safe, organized, and inclusive learning environment by assisting faculty with studio maintenance, supporting open lab hours, coordinating materials and supplies, and providing guidance to students and student-workers. The position plays a critical role in fostering student success through hands-on technical assistance, culturally responsive engagement, and support for program events such as the annual fashion shoot and fashion show. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: + Assist students and student workers from a wide variety of backgrounds and provide an optimal student learning experience. + Provide technical assistance for Fashion Design Classes + Support faculty in maintaining the studio and materials + Create and implement a routine for keeping the teaching areas and storage areas organized, and inventorying supplies + Special projects as needed Salary Range: $20.89 - $28.78 / hourly Minimum Qualifications + Associate's Degree or higher in Fashion Design AND + One (1) academic year of teaching/tutoring experience in Arts at the high school level or above OR + An equivalent combination of education and work experience. Preferred Qualification + Communication skills to assist students from a variety of backgrounds + Excellent writing and problem-solving skills + Ability to prioritize safety in assisting students Other Requirements Current and former employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College to be considered for the position. Physical Requirement Lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis Work Shift (Hours / Days of work) + Between the hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm with up to 24 hours per week based on lab schedule. + Monday - Friday with evenings as needed. Telework (Yes/No) Telework may be approved on an occasional and ad hoc basis at the discretion of the supervisor. Approval is contingent upon operational needs, job responsibilities, and employee performance.
