    Job Description

    The purpose of this position is to oversee and manage the financial aid department at Lake Superior College. The incumbent supervises the financial aid staff, manages the department’s daily operations, establishes and implements College policies and procedures related to student financial aid. This position monitors the revenue and expenditure of student financial aid annually, analyzes financial aid laws and regulations, formulates systems to process student aid efficiently, and communicates with internal stakeholders about the college’s financial aid department. The incumbent serves as an intricate member of the Student Success and Retention Team focused on student access, retention, persistence, and success. This position reports to the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + 5 years of experience in financial aid or related field; an associate’s degree may substitute for 6 months experience, a bachelor’s degree may substitute for 1-year professional experience, a master’s degree may substitute for 1.5 years’ professional experience

    + Knowledge of a variety of governing compliance agencies as well as their regulations and policies

    + Ability to work in a dynamic training environment

    + Experience managing budgets

    + Ability to supervise effectively and work with all faculty and staff members and communicate clearly in writing and oral presentations

    + Ability to work with computers and the applicable software to run programs needed by the center

    + Demonstrated ability to work successfully with persons from diverse backgrounds, and commitment to diversity and inclusion initiatives.

    Preferred Qualification

    + Bachelor’s degree plus 4-year professional experience working experience in that field

    + Supervisory experience

    + Knowledge of Higher Education Financial Aid awards

    + Knowledge of MN State policy, procedures, and contractual requirements

    + Knowledge of local, state, and national safety rules and safe workplace procedures

     

    Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)

     

    8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday-Friday

     

    Salary Range

     

    $30.10 - $43.59
