The Opportunity:
Join our dynamic team of naval architects, structural engineers, and designers as a Mid to Senior-Level Ship Mooring Engineer. This role offers a unique chance to contribute to solutions for US Navy and USCG ships. You'll have the flexibility to support our Washington, DC office and client sites at the Washington Navy Yard, with options for hybrid or remote work.
Responsibilities:
+ Lead projects by directing engineers and designers to create ship mooring arrangement drawings, conduct mooring and structural analyses, and perform ship-checks to ensure compliance with relevant Rules/Codes/Standards.
+ Develop and manage project schedules, providing regular updates to clients.
+ Ensure quality assurance for mooring arrangement drawings, analysis reports, and structural analysis reports.
+ Apply ABS, IMO, OCIMF, and UFC Rules/Codes/Standards to mooring system design, installation, and operation.
+ Author and review technical deliverables such as drawings, specifications, and SOWs for technical accuracy and regulatory/contract compliance.
+ Lead a global team of engineers performing ship-checks, with up to approximately 10% travel.
+ Collaborate with customers, vendors, shipyards, and internal team members.
+ Mentor and train less experienced engineers.
Qualifications:
_Required:_
+ Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or related field.
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of naval engineering/naval architecture/marine engineering/offshore engineering.
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience designing and analyzing mooring arrangements.
+ Experience performing mooring analysis using quasi-static method, such as Optimoor® software.
+ Knowledge of Rules/Codes/standards applicable to design of mooring system for commercial vessels.
+ Experience manipulating and developing CAD files using AutoCAD.
+ Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
_Desired:_
+ Experience performing mooring analysis using fully-coupled dynamic analysis.
+ Experience performing deck fitting and deck structural analysis using finite element analysis.
+ Knowledge of OCIMF Mooring Equipment Guidelines.
+ Experience applying NAVSEA’s NSTM and DDS/DPC 582 Mooring approaches to Navy Ships.
+ Specialized knowledge of mooring equipment (winches, fittings, etc.), mooring lines (materials, connectors, etc.), and fenders.
+ Knowledge of design considerations when switching mooring lines from wire rope to synthetic.
+ Previous/current government security clearance.

The proposed salary range for this position is:
$72,700 - $149,200
