Collins Aerospace is looking for a Principal Software Systems Engineer - IPT Lead with a passion for engineering and desire to join the Athena Control Systems team with Precision Navigation. With a wide variety of Flight Controls, Autopilot, Engine Control, Sensing and Estimation products, the Athena Controls System team is responsible for architecting, designing, and developing systems that serve manned and unmanned systems for commercial and military customers.

As a Software Systems Engineer - IPT Lead on the Athena Control Systems Team you will be leading the development, certification, and maintenance of software systems for safety-critical commercial and military applications. In this role, you'll work with a team of talented engineers, ensuring our solutions meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
This is an onsite position at our Sterling VA facility; Relocation is not provided.
What You Will Do:
+ You will provide project execution management including detail planning, cost account management, status and analysis, while also participating in system design and implementation activities where possible.
+ Leading and managing the engineering bid and planning process for a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
+ You will collaborate across Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) on program goals, including regular interface with Value Stream Leadership and Engineering Management
+ Work on multiple programs simultaneously
+ You will provide communication and status to relevant stakeholders.
+ You will support verification and traceability of the system requirements.
+ You will support peer reviews on test procedures & design documentation.
+ You will own the development of your design approach through collaboration with subject matter experts.
+ You will help drive resolution for technical issues through problem-solving and coordination across impacted teams.

**Qualifications You Must Have** :
+ Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
+ The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
+ Previous experience as IPT Lead and/or Scrum Master
Qualifications We Prefer:
+ Prior experience in Navigation, Controls, Sensor and Software for Embedded Systems development
+ Experience with regulatory and certification requirements and processes such as DO-178
+ Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and an understanding of their application in safety-critical systems
+ Experience leading a team through the full software and system development cycle in a regulated industry, preferably with experience in embedded software projects
+ Experience with manufacturing and production processes and tools for product testing and calibration
+ Project management experience
+ Knowledge of Earned Value Management
+ Ability to perform on multiple threads in parallel

The salary range for this role is 112,000 USD - 224,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
