With over 45 outpatient locations and a team of specialists in oncology, women’s health, sports medicine, and more, we are committed to high-quality, patient-centered outcomes. *Location:*Hartford, CT Region *Department:*Outpatient Rehabilitation ** *Position Overview* The Lead Occupational Therapist / Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) is a dual-role position that combines advanced clinical expertise in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation with leadership responsibilities within the outpatient rehab setting. This experienced clinician independently evaluates and treats patients with complex upper extremity conditions, including post-surgical cases, tendon injuries, and fractures, while also serving as a mentor and resource to other therapy staff. This role promotes health and wellness, prevents injury or disability, and improves functional independence through evidence-based occupational therapy practices. The Lead OT/CHT supports departmental operations, quality assurance, and staff development, contributing to a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. *Key Responsibilities* *Clinical Duties* * Independently evaluate and treat patients with upper extremity dysfunction, including surgical and non-surgical conditions of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand. * Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with patient and caregiver goals. * Deliver therapeutic interventions including exercise, pain management, wound care, swelling reduction, and orthotic fabrication. * Perform assessments of strength, motor control, joint mobility, soft tissue integrity, and functional abilities. * Fabricate custom upper extremity orthoses as needed. * Work directly with orthopedic surgeons in the ambulatory hand clinic and collaborate on treatment approach and patient outcomes *Leadership & Operational Duties* * Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to Occupational Therapy staff, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, students, and Rehab Aides. * Assist with onboarding, training, and ongoing coaching of new and existing staff. * Participate in quality control, data collection, and regulatory compliance efforts. * Identify and recommend process improvements using the organization’s operating model. * Provide feedback to supervisors and contribute to performance evaluations. * Model a commitment to clinical excellence by integrating evidence-based practice, technology, and innovation into patient care. * Collaborate across disciplines to deliver coordinated, high-quality care that reflects Hartford HealthCare’s standards of excellence. * Participate in initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and patient experience. * Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy from an ACOTE-accredited program. * Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) credential from HTCC preferred. * Minimum of 3 years of outpatient OT experience required; 5 years preferred. * Experience as a clinical instructor or mentor required. * Current license to practice Occupational Therapy in the State of Connecticut. * NBCOT® certification required. *What We Offer* * Career growth and movement opportunities within Hartford HealthCare’s network. * Ongoing education and training, including MedBridge subscription. * Robust benefits package including 401K with company match. * Special Interest Groups and clinical specialty opportunities. * Flexible scheduling and rewarding compensation. * Supportive culture with wellness and employee discount programs. * Recognition and referral bonus programs. **Job:** **Occupational Therapy* **Organization:** **Hartford Hospital* **Title:** *Lead Occupational Therapist - Certified Hand Therapist - Outpatient Rehab* **Location:** *Connecticut-Newington-Curtis-181 Patricia Genova Dr (10016)* **Requisition ID:** *25163683*
