    CT/MRI Scan Technician Assistant is continually interacting with technical staff, nurses, unit secretaries, patients, visitors, and physicians. This position requires caregiver to have knowledge of sterile and non-sterile techniques Involved in all aspects of the CT/MRI department operations including dispensing of department stock, stocking rooms daily, preparing oral contrast and exam data entry.

     

    A caregiver in this position works days, from 7:00am-3:30pm or 11:00am-7:30pm.

    A caregiver who excels in this role will:

    + Assure room is set up properly before beginning of procedure; clean room promptly post-procedure.

    + Assure patient modesty and comfort, assist patients with changing, answers call lights as appropriate and report any change in patient's condition or behavior.

    + Assure patient is discharged to appropriate destination.

    + Check proper identification of patient per policy and create patient identification bands.

    + Schedule scans and watch queue.

    + Verify physician exam order, looks at needs of patient and initiates communication and inpatient flow.

    + Document patient history, condition and any other pertinent information on requisition/history sheet and ensures all data is entered into the computer on day of exam, including nonprocedural changes, additional exams, and order revision.

    + Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS, when applicable knowledge in after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork immediately reporting any malfunctions to Help Desk and PACS Administrator.

    + Answer phones and questions, maintain department files.

    + Follow Radiation/MRI Safety Guidelines. Operates all equipment properly and with care.

    + Report any malfunctions, necessary adjustments, or repairs; completes necessary documentation.

    + Maintain ethical and professional relationships with all customers, demonstrating cooperative efforts with coworkers and the ability to accept constructive criticism.

    + Assess the patient's readiness and need for learning, considering all aspects of diversity and inclusion.

    + Determine the best methodology to deliver education and receive verbal feedback or return demonstration to validate learning.

    + Provide verbal and/or written instructions for tests/procedures, diagnoses, and discharge when appropriate.

    + Document what education has been delivered, patient's response and collaboration with any members of the health care team in coordination of care.

    Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + High School diploma or GED with emphasis on communication, computer skills and science courses

    + Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (required within new hire period)

    + Current radiology students would be eligible

    Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Computer skills

    + Broad knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy

    + Good interpersonal skills with all customer groups in a fast-paced environment

    + 1-2 years in a healthcare related field

    Physical Requirements:

    + Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

    + Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.

    Personal Protective Equipment:

    + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

     

    Pay Range

     

    Minimum hourly: $16.25

     

    Maximum hourly: $23.25

     

    The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.). The pay range does not include the value of Cleveland Clinic's benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental and vision benefits, retirement savings account contributions, etc.).
