POSITION SUMMARY:# The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for the organization, analysis, assembly, and follow up of patient medical records from patient care providers for inpatient and discharged residents.# Answers telephone calls to the main department line and directs or supplies needed information to the customers. Responsible for release of authorized patient information.# Responsible for detecting, observing and reporting compliance variances to the Director of the Health Information Management department or upward through the chain of command, the Compliance Officer or hospital hotline. # MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:# High School diploma and excellent communication skills with one year of experience in long term care setting, preferred.# Previous medical records experience is highly preferred.# Must have considerable initiative and judgment to involve collecting and analyzing medical record data.# Must be able to work under pressure and in conditions of frequent interruptions.# Must have computer and WordPerfect skills.
