             Veterinary Charge Nurse, Route 66 VECCC (Overnight, Day, or Mid Shifts) Compensation: $29-33/hr (Depending on Experience) Overnight Shift Differential: $3/hr Route 66 Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Center is partnered with National Veterinary Associates; a leading global pet care organization united in the love of animals and the people who love them. Position Summary The Charge Nurse provides day-to-day leadership, coordination, and clinical oversight across hospital departments. This role ensures efficient operations, effective communication, and high-quality patient care while supporting and mentoring team members. Each Charge Nurse shares common leadership responsibilities and is assigned a specific department of focus within the hospital. Managerial Responsibilities + Provide on-floor leadership to maintain smooth, efficient daily operations, which may include delegating tasks. + Oversee staffing levels, shift coverage, and workflow coordination. + Support staff development through training, mentorship, and performance feedback. + Participate in leadership meetings and communicate updates promptly and clearly. + Collaborate with hospital leadership to maintain consistency in protocols and procedures. + Promote cross-training and staff flexibility to strengthen team coverage. + Participate in audits, evaluations, and ongoing quality improvement efforts. Technical Responsibilities + Ensure functionality, cleanliness, and readiness of all clinical and support areas (ICU, Outpatient, Surgery, Laboratory, and Radiology). + Monitor and maintain essential medical equipment (e.g., anesthesia machines, pumps, Cubex, monitors, diagnostic tools, and sterilization units). + Oversee inventory management, supply organization, and ordering in collaboration with the Inventory Coordinator. + Ensure accurate and timely charge capture and client estimate processes. + Maintain up-to-date departmental documentation, logs, and signage. + Assist in developing and enforcing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all clinical areas. + Support implementation of new workflows, technologies, and equipment through staff education.
